After being told by my regular doctor that my future post menopause would exist of persistent painful sexual relations with my husband of over 40 years, I started looking for a Doctor who specialized in this and could provide a workable solution that would not create more health problems with a long list of possible dire reactions and side effects from taken Western medicine's Hormone Therapy drugs. I am here to say that after 15 years of compounded hormone use I am a healthy and fully functioning partner for my husband and deeply concerned that the FDA would make a decision to interfere with my rights to use the health care that choose based on a flawed report. Take the time and be open minded to the many sites out there who back up our decisions to seek out alternative health measures where we treat the reason behind health issues and not just take sometimes more harmful medicines that only treat the symptoms.

I have been using compounded bio-identical hormone therapy for over 10 years. My quality of life has been greatly improved as a result of using them. I have osteopenia, and my bone density scans have improved since I've been using cBHT. My doctor is pleased with the results. My heart health is also benefiting by using cBHT. I am a strong advocate for using compounded products that are beneficial to my body. I refuse to take synthetic hormones and synthetic thyroid medications that have unwanted and unhealthy side effects. My doctor monitors my cBHT levels on a regular basis. PLEASE NOTE: Medicare and my secondary health insurance does not cover any of my monthly cBHT prescription costs. However, I am more than willing to pay approximately $150 per month out of pocket to experience the benefits to me of taking the hormones. I plan to continue using cBHT and hope and pray that the FDA does not restrict my access to them.

Without cBHT I would not be functioning with the energy, brain function and abilities that I have today. At age 77 I am often taken for a younger woman due to my acuity and looks. Living with a husband on a rural acreage with a modest orchard, a few farm animals, and room for a large garden, I have the energy to keep busy every day. Being a private music teacher of piano has also kept me on my toes. The hormone therapy has been a blessing that I would hate to lose. It would probably turn my life around to make me an old woman sitting at home just getting older....

Since taking cBHT, I have been able to sleep more than 4 hours at a time. This has allowed me to continue working as a healthcare professional, much longer than I would have been able to manage on years of poor sleep. It has also completely resolved vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. I am looking forward to continue with my happy marriage for a very long time. I would not be able to do this with prescription hormone replacement because that is processed through the digestive system which initiates a different physiologic response in me. I tried it and it wasn't as effective and I was very worried about the long term effects.

I am actually taking the DHEA Suppository for Atrophy of the Vulva. It was prescribed by my gynecologist. At first, I was prescribed Premarin and it was horrible! Nothing but continual abdominal cramps, and itchiness & pain in the vulva area. Sex with my husband was totally OUT, and I had no quality of life. Then I was prescribed the compound DHEA, and my life turned totally around. The cramps, pain & itchiness was gone. Sex with my husband was restored, and I could look forward to a pain free future. If DHEA is taken away, I would have no choice but to go back to on artificial hormones again, and a life of misery.
