I have hypothyroidism and have my thyroid medicine compounded. I found out that I am allergic to traditional over the counter prescription thyroid pills as I get severe leg cramps that are debilitating and extremely painful with them. My compounded prescription meds have to be hypoallergenic which I cannot get through traditional prescriptions. Thyroid meds have affected the functioning of my heart, moisture levels in my body, sleeping patterns, bowel movements, memory and brain functions, and my overall mood and emotional outlook on life in a very positive way. My body and life are significantly better since we changed to compounded meds and dialed in on the correct dosage, of which doesn't come in OTC form even if I could take them.

I am on estrogen patches to prevent migraines. As a person with ovaries and a uterus, I therefore need to take some form of progesterone with it. The regularly prescribed Prometrium 100 mg made me absolutely miserable. I was on it for six months and was constantly tired, weepy, and depressed. Compounded progesterone at the 55 mg dose has all benefits and none of the side effects.

I have osteopenia, and my bone density scans have improved since I've been using cBHT. My doctor is pleased with the results. My heart health is also benefiting by using cBHT. I am a strong advocate for using compounded products that are beneficial to my body. I refuse to take synthetic hormones and synthetic thyroid medications that have unwanted and unhealthy side effects. My doctor monitors my cBHT levels on a regular basis. PLEASE NOTE: Medicare and my secondary health insurance does not cover any of my monthly cBHT prescription costs. However, I am more than willing to pay approximately $150 per month out of pocket to experience the benefits to me of taking the hormones. I plan to continue using cBHT and hope and pray that the FDA does not restrict my access to them.

Without cBHT I would not be functioning with the energy, brain function and abilities that I have today. At age 77 I am often taken for a younger woman due to my acuity and looks.
