It took me until I was 35 years old to discover a missing link in my mental and physical health... custom compounded bio-identical hormones. About 15 years ago I started the menopausal symptoms. I had night sweats, anxiety, hot flashes, mood swings, and low sex drive due to dryness. Have always had thyroid and hormone issues. Finally found a physician who cared enough to spend some time and look through my issues. We discovered, among other things, that I am a Factor Five Lyden patient. This greatly increases the possibility of strokes especially with traditional hormone treatment. After switching me to bio-identical HRT, the majority of my hormone issues were eliminated and I felt like a new person. I am forever grateful to this physician who possibly spared me from a stroke (my 28 year old nephew did have a stroke due to Factor Five). To remove this form of HRT treatment could be dangerous to many women. We should always have the option to chose what option is most beneficial to each individual.

Even though I'm on a fairly low dose, having this compound has helped me retain my energy and keep my muscle mass (nearly the same as it was when I was 40). Before I started using the compounding pharmacy I used Androgel. It was VERY expensive. Using a compounding pharmacy I received a similar product at ~ 1/10th the cost. I hope I can keep getting this compounded product from my pharmacy.

I have been on BHRT since 1999. I was only in my late 50's, but my quality of life was so poor as I had been having severe perimenopausal symptoms since my early 40s.

I am completely devastated to think that the FDA is considering restrictions on compound hormone therapy! For many years I was on synthetic hormones and I had constant pain in my ovaries I also was losing hair like mad! After reading how bad the The synthetic progesterone and synthetic horse urine in the estrogen I decided to use compounded bio identical hormones. My hair loss has stopped no more pain in my ovaries my overall well-being I feel much better and knowing that these compounded hormones are good for bones and I do have osteoporosis. I don’t understand why the FDA Has to come in mess with stuff that is helping us women, we pay out of pocket I don’t understand why they are doing this! This actually gave me a panic attack and I cried my eyes out. We can’t let them take away our hormone therapy!!

When I got the note that the FDA possibly wants to take away bio identical hormone therapy I literally had a panic attack and broke out in tears! I was on synthetic hormones for years and it caused me to have a hysterectomy and almost all of my hair eventually fell out! This was so devastating to my self-esteem and I never wanted to hang out with my friends let alone look in the mirror every day. After working with a naturopath who understands progesterone versus progestins and the harsh effects of horse urine she turned my life around! Bio identical‘s stopped my hot flashes that were happening every hour on the hour, they helped me to sleep, they helped with my mood and anxiety, my hair started to grow back, and my confidence and libido were restored!! Also, I had a bone scan that showed osteopenia in my left hip and lower back. Since I have been on hormone therapy after a couple of years I got another bone scan and I actually showed improvement in my bone density! I did nothing different except for bio identical hormones, which is why I am willing to pay for them out of pocket. The FDA and pharmaceuticals that want to mess with this is outrageous!! Women deserve to feel well and be well. If we can’t get insurance to cover this and we are willing to pay for it out of pocket then they need to leave us the hell alone! Please please please tell the FDA to stop this bullying with our hormones that don’t have the terrible side effects!! I’ve done both for years and there is NO COMPARISON to how much better my life and hair are doing on my compounded bio identical hormones!!!!

A compounding druggist suggested saliva and blood tests to determine hormonal deficiencies, and imbalances which change as one grows older. My doctor liked the idea, and, over 20 years, I have enjoyed the benefits of having balanced hormones for a woman of 78 years. I had a complete hysterectomy while in my fifties so hormonal cancer is not a concern. I am very grateful to that druggist, the testing lab and my personal doctor for taking a personal interest in my health. My only regret is that hormonal compounding treatment is not covered by insurance.
