“Lowest Commercial Dose is Too High for Me”
I am fairly sensitive to medications, often requiring a smaller dose than is recommended for my weight. When my doctor and I decided that hormone replacement therapy might be a good option for me (due to heavy bleeding, among other concerns), I started taking the lowest commercially available dose of progesterone. I became foggy, sleepy, lethargic, and had a hard time just getting through the day. After several weeks it became clear that my body was not going to adapt, and we tried a smaller dose, which has to be compounded. (The commercially produced progesterone capsules are oil-filled, and cannot be split.) Mental clarity and energy returned, and I have been thriving ever since.

“hormone treatment for menopause”
I have been using compounded hormones to treat the severe effects of menopause with much success. I had tried different intake methods for my treatment which didn't seem to work well but when I tried the compounded hormones it worked extremely well. My symptoms before taking the compound were to the point that I couldn't function properly. I was depressed, forgetful, unable to focus and for the first time in my life, having anxiety attacks. Now that I take the compounded hormones, I have none of that and am able to live my life fully. Isn't that what we all want? To be able to be the best we can be? I can't imagine why congress would take these important treatments away from the public and I can't imagine what I would do without them.

“50 years YOUNG feeling 80 Years OLD”
I was 50 years old when I realized that I had no energy for my daily life (work, children, husband...) when I found Dr. Barber who believes in compounded hormones.
I AM A CHANGED WOMAN!!!
Without replacing my mass produced hormones with compounded hormones that better supplied my body with what it needed, I'd be JUST ANOTHER MENOPAUSAL STATISTIC.
For 7 years I've gotten my life back!
“I'm healthy again!!”
Peri and post menopause wreaked havoc on my body. My joints ached, I had terrible brain fog, my hair was falling out, and I was losing muscle even though I exercised. I tried to balance my hormones for more than 5 years with standard hormone therapy. Nothing worked. Since going on cBHT therapy ALL my symptoms have disappeared. ALL of them! I'm healthier, more fit, and more energetic than I've been in a very long time - and I'm 56 years old.
I need cBHT in my life to keep me functioning, healthy, and productive. It is a critical part of my health and wellbeing program. Please do not take the right to be healthy away from me and others like me!

“I had a complete hysterectomy in my 20's. these hormones save me every day!”
Back in the 70's doctors seemed to have no problems do hysterectomies on woman like a tonsillectomy. i had mine done and i was 24 years old! I did not have cancer, but, "female problems". i went into to menopause immediately and no one told me what was happening to me!! i went several years without any kind of hormone therapy. i was miserable both physically and emotionally. i finally got help several years later and felt so much more comfortable and my body was more stable. no heat flashes, chills, lack of sleep, emotional roller coaster all of the time. had a sex drive back. i was on a pharmaceutical hormone and took myself off of them for a couple of years because of things i had read about synthetic hormones. same scenario for me, but, even worse symptoms this time around. my doc did blood work and I had no estrogen or testosterone in my system at all! I was so miserable and I got a prescription for my compound hormones and I have more energy, sleep better, not depressed, not soaking to the bone with heat flashes. I am now elderly and still need them. I will fight tooth and nail to keep them!! I pay out of pocket, because insurance won't pay for some weird reason! I do not want the FDA in my personal business. I like my small pharmacy and they keep me sane with their great service!!
“Compounding hormones are tailored made for the specific individual.”
I am 82 yrs old and have suffered for years with UTI. I started going to a urologist who put me on a vaginal cream through a compounding pharmacist. My UTI have gone down to 1 a year and it regimen has work very well. To hear that the government wants to curtail compounding pharmacy was very disturbing to me. My RX is made up specifically for me. I’m tired of the one size fits all. I can feel assured that my medication was made up for my particular problem and I dont have to deal with medication that is suited for everyone. I’d be heartbroken to have this taken away from met.

“married woman, 61 years old”
I started using hormone therapy after I went through menopause, due to the fact that sexual intercourse with my husband was so painful. I would burn and burn and be sore the next day still. After starting my compounding meds/hormones, i got so much relief. Feel like a normal woman and am enjoying my husband.
I do not understand why these compound meds are being threatened, if they work, but i have also learned that the government is about it's self and not the people, so of course they want to do away with these helpful compound hormone replacements.
Please hear the people!

“compounded estradiol cream”
I had to start taking hormone replacement therapy 1yr ago. The lowest strength estradiol supplement is a transdermal patch and it releases 0.0375mg/24 hours. The patch is changed every 3 days. I was allergic to the adhesive in the patch and it caused a red / itchy rash all around where the patch was applied on my skin. There were no tablets in mg size small enough to replace the patch. So, compounding my prescription was the only choice. I now have a transdermal cream and 1ml / 1 pump has 0.0375mg that I apply daily. It works great. Please do not stop the production of compounded hormone replacement medications.

“My compound prescription has helped me sleep, given me energy, improved my mood and helped me lose weight.”
I saw a physician for lack of energy, insomnia and unexplained weight gain. I've always been active, even running marathons well into my late 40's so these problems were very disconcerting.
I was given a battery of tests and it was determined that I had a very low testosterone level. I was given a prescription to bring this level back up to normal levels. It is not so much that I've gained a lot of muscle mass or had any kind of mood swings, it has just helped me feel like myself again. I would be very disappointed if this necessary prescription was suddenly made unavailable.

“My experience has been very positive.”
I had a surgical brought on menopause in my mid 20's. I do have one son born in 1972. I was 21 years of age. Premarin .625 mgs daily for years . Severe headaches I did not understand . Dr at time discussed hormone coumpound. Although he was not a gynecologist, but an allergy and immunologist.and treated the thyroid.also. He also wrote natural compound medicines too. So I began taking the better form of estrogen . It greatly decreased the head aches . I have been on it for MANY years. It really does me a world of good. I am sensitive to many other medications. Combined with thyroid treatment and the small dose estrogen, something just blended and it is my combination that is taylor made just for me. I am now 68. This works and I am sure it is a blessing to other women at whatever their individual needs are. The other great benefit is the cost is quite economical and affordable. Thank you for caring.

“Compounded medications helped reduce the effects of my chronic pain.”
After years of experiencing vulvovaginal and pelvic pain (which had not been accurately diagnosed by GYN's) a Physician, who dealt with pelvic floor dysfunction, prescribed compounded hormones for me. This has been a part of my treatment protocol and has helped alleviate my chronic pain.
We need more research and Physicians educated in pelvic floor dysfunction, which has mostly been overlooked, as so many women suffer in silence with this disease process. So please, FDA, do not take away a viable tool for millions of women who suffer from this vicious cycle of chronic pain.

“Informed Choice, Outstanding Results”
My story is similar to that of many women who have testified on this website - and yet unique. And it's precisely this uniqueness that compounding pharmacies are able to address. Since the years before menopause, I have suffered from a variety of symptoms that made my life miserable and affected me both physically and mentally. I have a large folder showing a history of failed treatments. My decision to take compounded, bioidentical hormones came after my bones showed a rapid degeneration. Still, it was not made lightly. I consulted several top experts in the field and compared their recommendations with dozens of studies (I do historical research for a living). Fourteen years later, I can say these hormones have turned my life around. Among other things, the physical strength I found during the five-year struggle of two of my sons with schizophrenia, and the untimely death of one of them, wouldn’t have been possible without the balance provided by these hormones and the careful monitoring of their dosage by my doctor and compounding pharmacist. I beg the FDA to take into serious consideration true life experiences. In a country where "my body, my choice" has become a rallying cry, it's hard to understand how it would not be applied to products that are allowing thousands of women to function at their best and, in turn, give their best to society.
“We have a right to be healthy women”
This issue of whether or not to continue cBHT is really a Gender Equity issue. Hormone replacement therapy is a means by which millions of women counter the crippling effects of menopause to restore hormonal balance and physical/mental health.
Restricting or eliminating access to cBHT would disproportionately effect women and will greatly interfere with our right to choose our own health care protocols.
Women have the right to age with health and vitality. Compound BHT is the only treatment that works for me and many others like me. Would we be having this conversation if cBHT users were primarily men? I don't think so.
Do not limit women's right to be as healthy as we can be.

“I've been taking HCG and Testosterone for about 8 years”
I have been taking HCG and testosterone for about eight years now. This has been life-changing. From the time I started these treatments I've felt 15 years younger. I'm practically never sick. Most people think I'm in my early 50s and I am 63 years old. I have never had any ill effects. A few times, for various reasons, I stopped taking the treatment for a period of months and the negative effects on my health and general well-being were overwhelming. It would be devastating to my life and my health of this treatment were to be taken away.
“Low T!”
I was diagnosed with Low T in 2014, and have required compounded hormone therapy to return to normal life. I find it critical to health and wellness! It's actually life-changing, and I can't do without it.

“Thank goodness for Doctors that listen to their patients and for hormone replacement therapy! I am one of many compounded hormone success stories!”
After visiting my Gynecologist, I was diagnosed with Uterine fibroids. I was
prescribed compounded hormone replacement therapy. I had been suffering from an array of debilitating symptoms from brain fog, bleeding, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, and irritability to name a few. Just when I thought my condition was hopeless, my Gynecologist agreed to prescribe Progesterone capsules. I was estrogen dominant which was compromising my health and ability to function at work and in general. I am so thankful to report that my fibroids are shrinking, my bleeding has stopped, and I am sleeping better than I have in years. Thank goodness for Doctors that listen to their patients and for compounding pharmacies!
Please don't take away this absolutely vital service that has improved my life and many others who are suffering needlessly!

“Exact Dosage”
I was introduced to compounded pharmacy hormone replacement therapy in 2017. Prior to 2017, my prescriptions were filled at traditional pharmacies such as Rite-Aide, Publix, and Walgreens. The dosage was suggested by my doctors but was never tested to ensure the medicines were working and more importantly...were they working at a dosage well and appropriately for me. I've been on hormone therapy since 2008 due to the removal of my ovaries. I've been the patient of several GYN doctors due to relocating to different places for my career. No doctor ever recommended blood analysis to determine the level of the medications in my body and to critically analyze their effectiveness. In 2017, I became a patient of a doctor who advertised health care for patients needing hormone replacement therapy. After an initial appointment, the doctor suggested a blood test to analyze many aspects but specifically to analyze my hormone panel. Since then, I have the same blood work done quarterly and my hormone medications are adjusted, if needed. Now, I'm taking prescribed medication that provides me with the exact dosage that my body and health care needs, NOT, a random prescription with a dosage that may be proven to work for MOST people. My dosage now is absolutely prescribed appropriately me. Compounding medications should be covered under my health care insurance, however, they are not. Therefore, I pay for them even though they are very expensive. My health and health care are very important to me. I am certain that I am receiving high quality care from my doctor and high quality prescribed compounded medicines.

“Regaining my life!”
Hormone replacement therapy has made a huge difference in my life. Both my quality of life and my health have improved greatly. I could not maintain healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels. I suffered from chronic fatigue. My sexual function had declined, blood sugar was becoming a real problem. Exercise and medication did not help, in fact just exercising was a real chore. Once I began hormone therapy all of these things began to come back in line. I now feel years younger and am able to continue in a way that is exceptionally healthy. The notion that this would somehow be taken away using some half baked study as the excuse angered me so much I both called and wrote my representative in Washington. I made the point that my health is not a business model. It is not a money making scheme. My health is not a cash cow to be used by the greedy morally perverse that would seek to do so. Why else would someone seek “ban” a treatment that works so well? She and I both agree that Doctors and patients should have the choice of their care and not be dictated to by government and big money interests.
“Menopause symptoms”
After trying vigorously to avoid any type of medication to get me through my menopause symptoms, I discovered bioidentical hormones which I have taken now for 11 years. It has made such a huge difference in my life and I have benefitted greatly from this therapy. I believe it would be very unfair to take this therapy away from millions of women who choose to avoid standard pharmaceuticals.

“I had a hysterectomy at an early age and my life went into a tailspin.”
I had a hysterectomy at an early age and my body went into advanced menopause overnight. I was having night sweats, skin dryness, mood swings, depression and muscle weakness. I tried all the hormones suggested by my OB/GYN and to no avail...all my symptons persisted. It is was until I discovered bio identical hormones that my body and mind obtained relief. I feel like a new person as a result of these compounded hormones. If these are taken away from us it will be a travesty. It will force many women and men to seek the hormones elsewhere outside the U.S.
