Three years ago, I had multiple health issues arise. Doctors to this day don't even know how to help me with multiple diagnosis' (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Ankylosing spondilitis, Small fiber neuropathy , arthritis' and multiple symptoms from a variety of autoimmune issues)and just finishing going through menopause as well. It has come to my attention that the FDA may be considering restricting access to compounded bio-identical hormone replacement. As a male who has suffered from hypogonadism since age 55 (now 75), access to this remedy replaced the testosterone I was so sorely lacking. I was in menopause at 41 years of age. At first I tried the standard Premarin pills. I was miserable. I gained weight, I retained water until my ankles and legs were continually swollen, I was moody and irritable, and my libido was nonexistent. I tried going off of HRT all together and felt even worse. I was either hot or cold all the time, I was emotional, and my libido still suffered. I tend to react adversely to synthetically produced hormones and other manufactured medications that are not naturally based. The compounded hormones I am on now are a must for me and I don't react negatively to them. If I didn't have this option I'd have no option.

I have been getting hormone pellets for years. They are the best thing I ever did after my hysterectomy when I was 29 my sex drive was way down . Hot flashes horrible. Since getting my pellets my life is much better.

It improved my general well being. I felt more energetic and both my body and my mind were balanced. Having the prescription made uniquely for me made all the difference. I had been prescribed the over the counter hormones. They were discontinued for negative reactions. I had a lot of ailments that have improved over the last several years since starting HRT. I can't directly correlate all of the improvements to HRT but combined with a change in some lifestyle improvements has enhanced my quality of life greatly. Without the bio-identical hormones, I have hot flashes every 20 to 30 minutes without ceasing 24 hours a day. I was so sleep deprived before the hormones. They are easy to take or administer and completely painless, unlike the pellets. My sister tried the implantable pellets but could not stand the pain that they caused 24 hours a day and so she had them removed after 3 weeks. Also, all of the other menopausal issues are cleared up with the hormones. Sex is no longer painful.

I was depressed for the longest time and absolutely had no drive to want to do anything to better myself. I looked into hormone replacement and found a very professional place to have my labs drawn and looked at and continuously looked at during the time I'm on it to safely administer said hormone. In 2014 I had my thyroid removed due to a supposed cancer diagnosis. I was on levothyroxin for 7 months when I started having issues. For 3 months I suffered with terrible issues and was able to find a doctor that practiced integrative medicine. When it became obvious that I was not converting T4 to T3, this doctor put me on compounded liothyronine. It was a miracle and I have been on it ever since, with the exception of two times when we tried going back to T4 with the same disastrous results. Being able to have my medicine compounded for me has been a life saver. Please don’t take this away from me. This really is my only option.

This type of therapy has greatly improved my quality of life! I have quite low testosterone, considered below the "normal" range, even for a male my age (late 30s). I suspect I've always had low T, but doctors would not test for that while I was in my 20s. Now I finally have a diagnosis from a reputable physician (my PCP). After starting bhrt I got my life back. Please do not prevent those of us who need bhrt to live a quality life from getting it. I don't know what I would do without it.
