I was unable to tolerate birth control pills as hormone replacement because I have a history of migraines and blood clots when I take them. They contain medroxyprogesterone, which tends to cause those issues. But my bone density was so poor that I started on compounded estrogen and progesterone and I have had no problems. Not only has it improved my bone density significantly, but also my sleep quality and clarity of mind. I have great confidence in my compounding pharmacist. They are very knowledgable. Please do not impede their ability to treat people like me.

Please, please do not take away my compounded hormones. I have been on them in one form or another for years and they have helped greatly with my perimenopause and now are helping me with menopause. Yes, I have tried some FDA-approved hormones and have always gone back to the compounded hormones. The FDA-approved hormones that I have used in the past seemed like they had unnatural dyes in them. I try to avoid dyes and I am shocked that they would dye a hormone pill bright orange or make a suppository blue! And without going into too much detail, I have had unpleasant adverse reactions to one in particular FDA-approved hormone. I will not go back to using it again. I think I would rather go hormone-free before I would use that one again. On the flip side, I have not had ANY adverse reactions to compounded hormones nor do they add colors unnecessarily. To sum it up, I MUCH prefer compounded hormones vs. unnatural FDA-approved hormones. The compounded hormones just work better for me!

I also developed lichen sclerosus around the same time. Using pellets improved my libido and gave me my third child, but didn't help my lichen sclerosus. I didn't use hormone replacement again until 2020. My low libido was causing more tension in my long term relationship, complicated by my dyspareunia. Adding compounded testosterone cream has helped my libido and my lichen sclerosus simultaneously. I am very thankful it's available!
