I have noticed a distinct difference between how I feel when on FDA approved T3 and T4 versus compounded thyroid hormones. Lab results also show that my numbers are more regulated and don't seem to fluctuate so much on compounded thyroid medications which is probably why I feel better. Another benefit to compounding has been to decrease or eliminate fillers that I tend to be sensitive to. Lastly and more of a convenience factor is that I am able to get both T3 and T4 compounded together into one capsule which makes traveling with less bottles helpful.

Please advocate for the continued availability of compounded progesterone. I pay for this out of my own pocket, as it is not covered by health insurance. I am not asking for health insurance to cover it. I am asking for the continued availability and right to use the bioidentical form of progesterone that provides me with the most health benefit.

I had a hysterectomy in my late forties and received conventional HRT afterwards. Within a few weeks I started to feel bad, depressed, a lack of energy, and began to experience other symptoms that are "supposed" to go away with HRT but did not (like brain fog etc). After complaining to my doctor, who has seen the difference between patients on bio and patients on synthetics, he recommended that I try to change to bHRT. He did warn me that insurance usually does not cover it, but I was so miserable I decided to give it a try. Ever since then, I do not even remember that I am supposed to be post menopausal. I am healthy, still working full time at age 67 and have a better brain function and stamina than many of my, much younger co-workers. Also, I have a genetic tendency for Osteo, but over the years the decline is negligible inspite of my sedentary (i.e. office work) lifestyle. I do not know what I would do if I could not have access to my bHRTS. It would be devestating for me.

I am on a compounded version of T4 (Thyroid medication) for hypothyroidism. When I was first diagnosed, doctor's tried to prescribe 'cookie cutter' synthetic drugs at predetermined dosages.
My body does not tolerate synthetic, lab created drugs very well and I tend to have harsh, adverse reactions. The only 'natural solution' was to use pig thyroid which contains T3 & T4 hormones, which my body does not need.
So, the only way for me to get a natural, plant based version of T4 ONLY, and in a dosage that can be controlled by my doctor vs. predetermined by Big Pharma, was to utilize a compounding pharmacy to create my thyroid medication.
I have been taking the compounded version of this hormone for 10 years and have thrived, with no adverse reactions. If the federal government changes my and others ability to access these compounded medications, we will be at a greater health risk having to switch to synthetic, chemical laced drugs that our bodies may not be able to tolerate. In addition, we will be forced to look for these medications in other countries, which could negatively impact our health as well.
The federal government should not be in a position to limit my choice and access to natural medications needed to survive.

I have been using compounded hormone therapy for more than 20 years. I suffer from night sweats and hot flashes. I have tried, unsuccessfully, over the years to do without it in the hopes my body would adjust. It hasn't. Without taking bhrt I awaken pretty much hourly, drenched and awake. Besides being horribly uncomfortable, it is well known that sleep deprivation can cause many maladies, especially at my age of nearly 70. I use bhrt intentionally and instead of synthetic hormones. I have never had negative issues with the use of compounded bhrt, only positive ones. I would be completely lost and miserable without access to these sanity saving compounded bioidentical hormones.

I had severe hot flashes starting at age 52. They affected my work and my sleep, hitting me every hour, 24/7. I was afraid to drive a car, since it almost felt like I was losing my consciousness when a hot flash hit. I consider myself very lucky to find a doctor who worked with me for a year to prescribe the best (for my body) set of compound biohormones. My mother, who still suffers from hot flashes (she is almost 80 years old), is a survivor of breast cancer. My father died from colon cancer.
