I was prescribed hormone replacement due to the strong genetic risk of osteoporosis within my family. My mother, her two sisters, and my grandmother all have or had it. I am osteopenia. My numbers of my last dexa scan showed that my condition is NOT getting worse. It is possible the hormone replacement is helping. The medication has also greatly benefited the intense effects of my menopause, particularly my mood. I did not feel like myself at all going through menopause. It eliminated my night sweats and hot flashes, improved my libido and my mood. It has made me tolerable for my family to be around! The effects of menopause is very difficult not just for me, but for those around me. It is seldom talked about in our culture. Women, including me, were largely unprepared for the impact on mood swings, physical comfort, and lack of sex drive. All of these things have a much broader impact other than just feeling better. Since being on it, it has greatly improved my marriage, motherhood and other relationships. I do not have breast cancer in my family, and I did a genetic test which did not indicate a risk of breast cancer. The doctor recommended I be on the medication for five years to help with the osteoporosis but reduce the risk of breast cancer. I go in for regular mammograms which have all been normal. Please don't eliminate access to this treatment. So many people benefit from it. They need to be aware of the risks of breast cancer, but so many other risks can come from not allowing it to be available.

After years of struggling with endometriosis, and early onset menopause, I had a complete hysterotomy (ovaries & uterus) at 44 because of excessive bleeding due to endometrial hyperplasia. My surgeon indicated that my ovaries were similar to those of a post menopausal women. After my hysterotomy I suffered severe hot flashes. I used an estrogen patch to control the hot flashes until I was 58, but wanted to use a more natural form of estrogen as I neared my 60's so I started using compounded estrogen and progesterin drops. In 2019 I traveled across the US for six months, and because of shipping issues I could not have the drops delivered to certain states. So I thought I would try going off the hormones completely to see if I could tough it out and maybe if I tried long enough, the hot flashes would calm down. 90 days later when I returned home to Washington state I was so miserable with night sweats/hot flashes, interrupted sleep and daytime hot flashes that alarmed both myself and my husband, I decided to renew my prescription for the compounded hormone drops. Within two days I was back to normal with uninterrupted sleep and normal functioning during the day. I cannot express the importance of this drug in allowing me to lead a normal life. Please do not restrict cBHRT therapy.

Women, and men, need more choices and alternatives, and our economy needs to give smaller companies providing them a chance to provide the service.

Post menopause, the walls of my vagina were getting thin and dry. The compounded suppositories that I take have resulted in a noticeable improvement. I am distressed to learn that the FDA is considering taking these away from me and other patients.

Before I used compounded hormones, I could not get the correct balance with regular pharma therapies. It took me years to find a provider who could work with my hormones as well as finding a location who would compound exactly what I needed. If the FDA restricts this, first we would need a pharma company who thinks they could make enough money to make exactly what I need. Second, pharma will not sponsor trials that meet all of our needs. Please do not do this to those of us who have finally found what we need to live healthy, productive lives.

I have been taking Biest biodentical hormones for almost 20 years. I was having horrible hot flashes every half hour that effected my quality of life. Biest stopped my hot flashes and in addition has increased my libido. Without Biest my quality of life would greatly be decreased. Also I would literally feel castrated with a lack of libido as a result of having my compounded hormones denied to me.
