Being able to get natural hormones that are easily adjustable to my needs (rather than prescribed doses that are not alterable) has made my hormone therapy successful, whereas I have friends who did not go this route and did not tolerate the hormones well, possibly because the dosages were not correct. Also, many of my friends have osteoporosis, and I only have signs of mild osteopenia.

58 y.o.female status post-op vaginal hysterectomy and BSO on BHRT for over 15 years. Research shows these bioidentical hormones are safe and effective and actually reduce the risks of breast cancer and other risks associated with the synthetic hormones being pushed by the FDA if properly prescribed. The FDA's main purpose is to protect the bottom line of pharmaceutical companies producing the unhealthy synthetic hormones. They are using the 2002 Womens Health Initiative Study as evidence, while that study only looked at Premarin and Prempro. It showed many increased risks and should have caused the FDA to remove those products from the market. Instead, the are supporting Pfizer's bottom line for producing dangerous drugs.

When I got the note that the FDA possibly wants to take away bio identical hormone therapy I literally had a panic attack and broke out in tears! I was on synthetic hormones for years and it caused me to have a hysterectomy and almost all of my hair eventually fell out! This was so devastating to my self-esteem and I never wanted to hang out with my friends let alone look in the mirror every day. After working with a naturopath who understands progesterone versus progestins and the harsh effects of horse urine she turned my life around! Bio identical‘s stopped my hot flashes that were happening every hour on the hour, they helped me to sleep, they helped with my mood and anxiety, my hair started to grow back, and my confidence and libido were restored!! Also, I had a bone scan that showed osteopenia in my left hip and lower back. Women deserve to feel well and be well. If we can’t get insurance to cover this and we are willing to pay for it out of pocket then they need to leave us the hell alone! Please please please tell the FDA to stop this bullying with our hormones that don’t have the terrible side effects!! I’ve done both for years and there is NO COMPARISON to how much better my life and hair are doing on my compounded bio identical hormones!!!!

Going through puberty at the age of 14 wrecked havoc on my body and subsequently my emotional wellbeing. I have been on countless birth controls to try and regulate my menstrual cycle and hormones. Not one of them worked, in many cases caused more problems. My hormones naturally are not in anyway normal for any age group of females. Was put on birth control, told it WOULD straighten out my hormone issues and it did BAD things to me and never straightened out my issues.
It messed me up more, even to the point of possible surgery because an orange size cyst that developed and made it painful to walk.
Taken off of it and refused other artificial hormones.
Cyst went away.
Thankfully I did refuse them because I found out I have a medical condition that artificial hormones are contraindicated with.

I had to have a hysterectomy after my 3rd child. My sister had breast cancer and so they took my ovaries too. I was on estrogen in a pill at first but I was short tempered and irrationally paranoid about everything. I told my doctor and he said to try a compound. I was back to normal. My local pharmacy has been able to carefully compound my HRT perfectly suited to me. I tried non compounded sources and after years of that I realized that this is something that must be dialed in specially for each patient.
