“I have been on compounded medications since 1999”
I have been on compounded medications since 1999 when I first began Menopause and its what save me. I had ample OB/GYN at that time who was uncaring and did nothing to help my symptoms. Dr. Roberta Foss-Morgan was recommended to me and I have been with her since April of 1999. I have also been prescribed compounded medications for my Hypothyroidism and because I also have celiac disease many medications contain wheat. Instead of taking compounds away you should be helping to sustain them. I just had my physical with my new internist and he was impressed with my results his comment to me was " your boring". My doctor monitors my care and I have blood work every four months to maintain my quality of life. Many medications in Europe are compounded they embrace this practice and it is my hope that you do not ban compounded medications from the patients who need them. Thank you for understanding!!!!!
“After my hysterectomy I started bio-identicals...”
After my hysterectomy I started bio-identicals. Five or 6 years later I was told by my doctor that HRT wasn't effective for longer than that, so I stopped. At that point my sleep was greatly affected and I began to have occasional hot flashes. I tried many things short of a prescription sleep aid, but most nights sleep was a real problem and this went on for years. After being diagnosed with osteopenia and osteoporosis, a friend suggested I try HRT again so I talked with my current doctor. She has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful and I began using bio-identicals again several months ago. My sleep has improved drastically, and my hot flashes are gone. For me, the hot flashes were inconvenient but losing so much sleep was the much bigger issue, as it affects so many things. I don't like the idea of a non-natural HRT, the bio-identicals fit my approach to life.

“When I turned 49...”
When I turned 49, I had one ovary and fallopian tube removed, due to pelvic adhesion syndrome. It put me into IMMEDIATE surgically induced menopause. For one year I tried all manor of OTC remedies, home remedies, and suffered terribly throughout. Headaches, 24/7 sweats, nausea, insomnia, and a host of other daily maladies, brought on menopause. At 50, I sought out a practitioner that specialized in BHRT. Pellets for the estrogen/testosterone, and compounded progesterone in the cream form. In a few weeks, I felt better than I had in a very long time. At about the 2nd year of being on BHRT, for some strange reason, my Dr. decided to put me on traditional pill form of progesterone. I filled the script and after about 10 days of taking it, I suffered from horrible headaches. Blood pressure, musculoskeletal and all other causes of headache were eliminated and all that was left was the progesterone. I called the pharmacist and he informed me that yes, the progesterone capsules that are prescribed have headache as one of the top three side effects. I requested my physician immediately place me back on the compounded progesterone and after about a week, headaches went away and long story short, I am now 59, feel great and highly recommend to anyone that will listen that they, too, should consult their physician about BHRT. Its safe, effective, and if taken away, I will suffer, as I am sure many, many other people will as well. Please do not make compounded BHRT/HRT preparations unavailable or less available to patients. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for considering my request.

“I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY HORMONE REPLACEMENT”
I AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY HORMONE REPLACEMENT I enjoy comfortable days and nights while I'm on HRT. Without it, I'm miserable with side effects of menopause.
“Before beginning cBHT, I had bad mood swings”
Before beginning cBHT, I was in a state of horrible mood swings, sleeplessness, night sweats and fogginess. My family didn't even want to be around me. When I first started on Hormone Therapy, I used a non-compounded dose regimen. This did not work for me. Upon starting the compounded therapy, I found my situation to begin to reverse and I felt normal again as well, my family could see a big difference. It was helpful that because my HT was compounded, I could make adjustments to my doses as I was able to tell if I was getting to much or to little and made adjustments accordingly, until I got to where I had my dose perfect. Without my HT being compounded I would not have been able to make the adjustments necessary to even my hormones and stabilize my symptoms. Thank you.

“I would be lost without hormone therapy”
I would be lost without hormone therapy. My hormones were so imbalanced it was affecting every aspect of my daily life. Thirty+ hot flashes a day and night, no sleep, massive headaches, exhaustion, mood swings. I can function normally now and take care of my family including my disabled son.

“Without bioidentical hormones...”
Without bioidentical hormones I would not be able to sustain my pregnancies. I am progesterone deficient and without bioidentical progesterone my levels would not be high enough to sustain my rainbow baby.
“I need compounded hormones”
All my life, I've been sensitive to how fluctuations in Estrogen affected me. I could not take hormonal birth control because it was either too much or too little. When I got hirmone receptive breast cancer, had my ovaries removed my body revolted. I could not take full strength hormone for risk of the cancer returning and because it would be too strong (I was on it briefly). Without compounding, finding the right dose for me is not an option.

“Quality of Life has drastically improved”
Due to medical issues, I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 26. I was then given a one size fits all hormone pill. I began having debilitating migraine headaches that prevented me from living my life. I suffered with these headaches for a number of years. I tried different forms of hormone replacement but never received the relief I so desperately wanted from the headaches. My husband did research as well, and learned of compounding formulas. Since I had received the hysterectomy at such a young age it was ridiculous to think that a pill would replace my normal hormone levels. I met with my doctor and the compounding pharmacist and it was decided I would try a compounded troche. After a month of using the troches, my headaches lessened and were less intense. I am happy to report that I rarely have headaches now and enjoy a healthy life without having to use pain medications. My quality of life as well as my husband and families quality of life greatly improved. I am most thankful that we found the compounding pharmacy and the compounded troches.

“I started using cbht when I was in my 40's”
I started using cbht when I was in my 40's for PMS and menstrual discomfort. I continued using it through menopause and still use it currently. I never had any menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes that my friends always complained about. It was as if I never went through menopause. I don't know what I would have done without it. I am 70 years old now and hope to be on it the rest of my life. It makes me feel great!!

“I have used both cream and pill for menopausal symptoms”
I have used both cream and pill for menopausal symptoms and post-menopausal symptoms. Bio-identical compounds seem to be gentler and safer on the body and still effective. I want personal choice in what I use. Please don't restrict my choices by restricting the use of compounded hormone therapy.

“Extremely helpful”
Without the bio-identical hormones, I have hot flashes every 20 to 30 minutes without ceasing 24 hours a day. I was so sleep deprived before the hormones. They are easy to take or administer and completely painless, unlike the pellets. My sister tried the implantable pellets but could not stand the pain that they caused 24 hours a day and so she had them removed after 3 weeks. Also, all of the other menopausal issues are cleared up with the hormones. Sex is no longer painful.

“cBHT improved my life dramatically”
cBHT improved my life dramatically. Prior to using I couldn't sleep at night. The lack of sleep was particularly harmful because I have a long (almost 1 hour) commute to work and was feeling sleepy driving. The medication gave me long, restful sleep. Also, I don't have menopause symptoms suffered by other women such as hot flashes. I feel better over all. My life is much better because of this medication.
“cBHT has positively affected my life.”
cBHT has positively affected my life. Prior to taking this I was experiencing very low mood, anxiety, sleeplessness and general lack of vitality for life. At first my doctor wanted me to go on birth control and an anti-depressant. I did try this approach and it made things worse for me, my mood became worse along with my anxiety, I also experienced nausea. This experience led me to look into cBHT and I found a doctor who offered this. Although, I was a little nervous at first, I decided to try it. Wow! it has really helped me, I actually feel human again! I can sleep, my moods are so much better and I am calm. This is something that should be made available to women and men.

“Please consider”
It has come to my attention that the FDA may be considering restricting access to compounded bio-identical hormone replacement. As a male who has suffered from hypogonadism since age 55 (now 75), access to this remedy replaced the testosterone I was so sorely lacking. The symptoms of extreme fatigue, low sex drive, muscle trophy, and the problem of my body converting what testosterone I did have into estrogens were all alleviated by troche administered testosterone and other estrogen damping compounds. All of this made available through compounding pharmacist by doctors prescription. Please consider cased like mine before any restrictions are made to this service.

“It improved my general well being”
It improved my general well being. I felt more energetic and both my body and my mind were balanced. Having the prescription made uniquely for me made all the difference. I had been prescribed the over the counter hormones. They were discontinued for negative reactions. I feel I need these alternate choices and should be free to choose which is the best health choice for me as prescribed by my doctor. This loss would be a determent to everyone's choice of health care. Big pharmacies bottom line is profit. They should not be allowed to run out or incorporate every other choice we have for our health. Leaving us with their manufactured product only which is really no choice at all.

“I tend to react adversely to synthetically produced hormones...”
I tend to react adversely to synthetically produced hormones and other manufactured medications that are not naturally based. The compounded hormones I am on now are a must for me and I don't react negatively to them. If I didn't have this option I'd have no option.

“I had a lot of ailments that have improved...”
I had a lot of ailments that have improved over the last several years since starting HRT. I can't directly correlate all of the improvements to HRT but combined with a change in some lifestyle improvements has enhanced my quality of life greatly. I have to say that HRT has played an important role in this process.
