I began cBHT Progesterone after years of dealing with severe menorrhagia. I was relieved to find an alternative to progestin which my medical research shows has significant medical risk with long term use. After 2 months my periods normalized. Shortly after when I hit menopause my estrogen levels plummeted since I am very thin with no peripheral adipose tissue conversion. I initially used Climera patches but they stopped working and have had to use compounded vaginal estriol along with injectable estrogen. I do not want to use or support estrogens that involve the mistreatment of horses.

I initially hesitated to take HRT because of the negative side effects I had read about. I then read about bioidentical hormones and researched them until I was convinced they would be safer. After speaking with Jane Kennedy in Santa Rosa, CA, I began working with her and after about ten years, I can say that I'm thrilled that I made the choice to go with bioidentical hormone replacement. Not just because they're safer, but because they've had a very positive effect on my sleep, skin, libido and general feeling of well being.

I had a hysterectomy when I was 45 years old and was placed on synthetic premerin for about 14 years. When I stopped using this (doctor's orders), my system went nuts until I heard about hormone replacement therapy and found a doctor who could treat me. This made such a great change in my life. I am 81 years old and feel wonderful and am told I look 50. It would be a crime if we were unable to obtain this now.

I have been using compounded Estriol cream for 20 years for vaginal dryness and have been using compounded Estradiol cream for 5 years to raise my hormone levels that were lowered due to menopause. Both cBHT creams have greatly enhanced my life and have eliminated my symptoms caused by menopause. I have had no side effects either during the long time frames that I have been using them. My doctors have deemed them safe, which they have been as well as very effective. I am greatly concerned that the FDA & NASEM want to restrict the use of compounded bioidentical hormones on which I depend on for my health. I totally go the natural route and will not, and refuse to use pharmaceutical drugs such as Premarin because of the ingredients and the long list of dangerous side effects like cancer that accompany each drug. I definitely don't want the FDA or the NASEM to restrict the use of compounded bioidentical hormones. Without the compounded creams, my symptoms would return, which would greatly affect how I feel healthwise and would also affect my lifestyle because of this. In other words, my sense of well being would be altered detrimentally. Please prevent the FDA from putting unwanted restrictions on my compounded hormones. I am counting on Congress to do this.

A couple of months before I turned 50, I started menopause... and stopped sleeping. It was as if a light went off. I could sleep only about 1.5 hrs per night. Period. Never had a hot flash, but the horrific insomnia is like a death sentence. I wanted to die. My quality of life was nil. I was miserable. My doctors have put me on various hormone replacement therapies over the years, all sorts of sleep therapy, doctors, this list goes on and on. But now at the age of 65, I have been using cBHRT (cream form) for a few years, and while I don't feel like I did as a young lady, I can at least get enough sleep at night that I don't want my life to end. I have a lot to live for. Four beautiful grandchildren, a husband, and two wonderful daughters and their spouses. Please do not take away from me this one last lifeline I have to sanity and a decent quality of life!

Bioidentical hormone therapy has helped me overcome so many chronic medical conditions that I suffered with and affected me for many years starting with perimenopause through menopause until I started with the hormones.
Some of the conditions included: thinning and dryness of soft tissue such as gums, nasal passages, and vaginal walls; dry skin, nails, and eyes; joint pain in knees and back; hot flashes; night sweats; low libido; feeling down; low energy; and brain fog. Each of these conditions caused other problems. For example, thinning gums caused my gums to recede and expose the roots of my teeth which then caused many root cavities even though I was very careful to floss and clean my teeth well.
After starting with the bioidentical hormones, these conditions all vastly improved as did my overall health and quality of life.
