My quality of life was vastly improved by the compounded (prescribed) hormones. My mental clarity/memory/capacity, my physical sense of wellness, my balance, my pelvic health, and much more were far more enhanced by bioidentical hormones than by conventional treatment. As it is important to work holistically with the earth in farming, for healthier soil and for those who eat the food from that soil, it is important to treat the body holistically for a healthier outcome. Salutatory or health upbuilding approaches and their benefits far outweigh band aid approaches that do not treat the root cause, in my experience and in evidence-based studies. I am a 57 year old male quadriplegic. Men with spinal cord injuries age at three times the rate of an able-bodied male. When going through menopause, several years ago, I was having terrible symptoms, including night terrors, insomnia, profuse intermittent sweating, mood swings and suicidal depression. cBHT literally saved my life, and has kept me healthy and increased my mental well-being tremendously. I began taking birth control pills at about age 35 because my natural menstrual cycles were emotionally awful from ovulation to menstruation. After a total hysterectomy and oophorectomy at age 50 (for fibroid tumors and excessive bleeding) I decided to change from oral to topical estrogen to reduce my risk for complications associated with oral estrogen. My husband was an endocrinologist and I am a nurse practitioner. Since the only source of non-oral estrogen is injection or oral, I chose oral. The only source of topical estrogen is compounding pharmacies. I cannot use vaginal creams because of allergic reactions to every cream or suppository I tried. I must use vaginal estrogen cream because the surgical mesh used for my pelvic repair came through the vaginal mucous membranes when I reduced the dose of estrogen cream. I am now 87 years old. Unlike my similarly aged friends who do not take estrogen, my back is straight, my joints do not hurt, and I walk on my treadmill at least 10 miles a week. I hope that my compounded estrogen cream remains available for me.

I was a surgical menopausal woman at 42 years of age. I am currently 58 years old. I fell apart physically and mentally when my ovaries were removed. I no longer was myself. I felt like leaving this beautiful world. I felt so horrible. It took me many years to get back up to something similar to the woman I once was. I have been on hormone replacement for 18 years and specifically bioidentical biestrogen cream and testosterone cream. It has given me 18 more years to live and experience life! My mother never used hormone replacement therapy and died with horrendous osteoporosis and several broken bones, two hip replacements and dementia. My bones at 58 are that of 20 year old as tested by bone density tests. I take creams because I cannot tolerate the patches or gels that are FDA approved. Those are way too strong for me. My hormone replacement is dosed to a dosage that I can tolerate and with being older, I do not wish to take my hormones in pill form for risk of stroke and clots. I need my compounded hormones to exist!
