“After years of struggling with endometriosis, and early onse...”
After years of struggling with endometriosis, and early onset menopause, I had a complete hysterotomy (ovaries & uterus) at 44 because of excessive bleeding due to endometrial hyperplasia. My surgeon indicated that my ovaries were similar to those of a post menopausal women. After my hysterotomy I suffered severe hot flashes. I used an estrogen patch to control the hot flashes until I was 58, but wanted to use a more natural form of estrogen as I neared my 60's so I started using compounded estrogen and progesterin drops.
In 2019 I traveled across the US for six months, and because of shipping issues I could not have the drops delivered to certain states. So I thought I would try going off the hormones completely to see if I could tough it out and maybe if I tried long enough, the hot flashes would calm down. 90 days later when I returned home to Washington state I was so miserable with night sweats/hot flashes, interrupted sleep and daytime hot flashes that alarmed both myself and my husband, I decided to renew my prescription for the compounded hormone drops. Within two days I was back to normal with uninterrupted sleep and normal functioning during the day. I cannot express the importance of this drug in allowing me to lead a normal life. Please do not restrict cBHRT therapy.

I had extremely low hormone levels. After taking birth control that was prescribed for me I landed in the ER several times due to massive bleeding. Along with these I had extreme hot flashes. The compound hormones have normalized my hormone levels and I have never felt better. To take away my right to these is to take away my choice for a healthy life.

I have been using my bioidentical hormones since I started going into menopause at age 40 and I am now 64. I feel so awesome and I would never consider stopping them. They have enhanced my life and youth with energy and a sense of well-being. My skin is beautiful, very little wrinkles and still as moist as a young girl when having sex.

Prior to HRT, I felt terrible. My nails started breaking, my hair was falling out, and my mood was just horrible. I just did not feel like myself and was very depressed. Now, I feel great. I feel like my old self. My husband is happy too. Why would the FDA want to take away my options? I am the manager of my health. This doesn't make sense to me of what the FDA is planning. Please do not take this option away. I have no idea what I would do without it.

I had to have a complete hysterectomy in my 30's after much research and trying the conventional hormones (not compounded, which the side affects were not acceptable) I went with the compounded natural hormones which I have been taking under the tongue for many many years with no ill affects and great results, no hot flashes, night sweats, skin color change etc etc. Please please do not take away my hormone replacement therapy. I cannot and will not take the synthetic versions as they are not an option for me.

“Due to extreme pain and bleeding from a multitude of severe ...”
Due to extreme pain and bleeding from a multitude of severe conditions, I had to have my ovaries and uterus removed when I was in my 30's. I tried several hormone therapies without help, and I was suffering from daily migraines that left me unable to get out of bed. The creams and patches left me with rashes, and were not providing the estrogen and progesterone balances that I required. I have been using the compounded drops since 2004, and they have saved my life, my marriage, my career, and my well-being. I have had no adverse effects, and we are able to check my hormone levels a few times a year with bloodwork, and then adjust dosage slightly to optimize. This helps keep me from having to take too much, as with a pill, or not be able to balance the progesterone and estrogen to function together. My medical providers and my pharmacy all work together well to ensure quality and appropriate dosaging, so that I feel safer and healthier taking these medications than most other ones that do not receive the same personal oversight. Please do not remove one of the few options that people have to regulate this critical health aspect of our complicated lives. Women, and men, need more choices and alternatives, and our economy needs to give smaller companies providing them a chance to provide the service.

Post menopause, the walls of my vagina were getting thin and dry. The compounded suppositories that I take have resulted in a noticeable improvement. I am distressed to learn that the FDA is considering taking these away from me and other patients.

“Before I used compounded hormones, I could not get the corre...”
Before I used compounded hormones, I could not get the correct balance with regular pharma therapies. It took me years to find a provider who could work with my hormones as well as finding a location who would compound exactly what I needed. If the FDA restricts this, first we would need a pharma company who thinks they could make enough money to make exactly what I need. Second, pharma will not sponsor trials that meet all of our needs. Third, the amount of money that pharma would have to make would make the compounded meds/now regular meds, costs would be out of my price range. Please do not do this to those of us who have finally found what we need to live healthy, productive lives.

I have been taking Biest biodentical hormones for almost 20 years. I was having horrible hot flashes every half hour that effected my quality of life. Biest stopped my hot flashes and in addition has increased my libido. Without Biest my quality of life would greatly be decreased. Also I would literally feel castrated with a lack of libido as a result of having my compounded hormones denied to me.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. A few years later, the Multiple Myeloma began to resurge, and my physician found that I was HYPOTESOSTERONEMIC. He prescribed the available topicals that did not deliver enough Testosterone. He then prescribed a compounded formulation by Kusler's Pharmacy in Snohomish. This topical was successful, and was crucial in making my treatment, Revlimid plus Dexamethasone, work. I have been using it since, and it has become an important part of Multiple Myeloma therapy.

“I was changed from Big Pharma hormonal replacement by Bastyr...”
I was changed from Big Pharma hormonal replacement by Bastyr University Clinic in Seattle many years ago. My doctor keeps me on it for the good it does my body and inner organs. The FDA has already restricted the therapy once some years ago. I can only assume that some very big money interests are out to restrict this further now if not eliminate it so people have to take regular pharmaceuticals instead thus financially benefitting larger moneyed interests. And the so-called "research" that is being put forward is, I am sure, nothing more than done in the interest of large money firms, not in the interest of patient care. We need to be reminded in this country that we were founded on the basis that the people need to be protected from the government overreaching its authority.
