I always had very terrible periods, mood swings, lethargy, and bad cramping. I was very afraid to go through menopause because of my periods so I sought out the bioidentical hormones prior to menopause and I skated right through it. Over the last several years, I've noticed an increase in depression, weight gain, and hot flashes. I gained 50 pounds and I have never had an issue with weight in my life. I was prescribed cBHT two months ago and was told the first month my hot flashes would go away (which they did!) and the second month, I'd see improved mood (which I have!). The 3rd month, the doctor said I should start to see some of the weight come off easier. Before, no matter what I did (eat better and exercise) it didn't matter. My weight would just increase. I'm eager to start seeing some of that come off so I can start to feel better in my own skin! cBHT has made such a difference in my life as I'm entering the latter stages of life. I wish I would have started this sooner to maybe prevent or at least decrease some of my menopausal symptoms.

I've suffered from hormone imbalances since I was 16. I developed every side effect listed from synthetic hormones. Without replacements, I had severe loss of memory, wild mood swings, debilitating hot flashes and night sweats and severe brain fog with no energy. I told my husband if I got hit by a semi, I wouldn't care because that was not living. I was just existing. Once I finally found a competent set of bioidentical hormone replacement doctors, everything smoothed out. It's like I'm 30 again instead of 62. I have NEVER had a negative side effect from compounded hormones. In fact, they cleared up a problem I had in my left breast that I swear was caused by synthetic hormones. Take away my compound hormones and I will be a dysfunctional zombie again within three days. That's all it takes.

It's hard to answer the "effect" question since I don't know how things would have turned out had I not started the hormones. I am "osteopenic", small boned and low-weight, so my doctor, nutritionist and chiropractor thought this would be a good idea. I have had no negative side effects; my breasts got a little larger (they were always very small) - that wasn't negative. I like the fact that my Rx is compounded based on MY personal blood test results every six months, rather than a one-size fits all, and also that bioidentical estrogens are just that, and aren't some strange unnatural substance being put into my body because some drug company wants to be able to patent their drug. I am 75, people think I'm maybe 60; I'm sure the hormones have helped.

I am a 74 year old woman who has a history of UTI infections. They were so cronic I went to see a Urologist a couple of years ago. The exam and tests ruled out any serious issues with my kidneys or bladder, etc. The doctor explained they had the best results treating women with my problem using a compounding pharmacy that provided C-ESTRADIOL cream 0.015%. Since I have been using it, my incidents of infections greatly reduced. Besides being very painful, the only medicine that worked was Cipro. That drug has possible side effects but when I am in pain it works where the other RX's did not. I urge the FDA not to ban cBHRT as this cream has greatly reduced me getting infections.

I need T4 supplementation. I have two rare genetic disorders. There are literally no premanufactured versions of T4 I can take from regular pharmacies because all of them have added ingredients that I cannot take due to my two rare genetic disorders. My airway literally swells and I can die or at the very least go to the hospital. The only way I can get T4 that I can take is through a compounding pharmacy. Not every patient has the health privilege that allows them to get all of their prescription needs met through regular pharmacies. You cannot take away compounded hormone therapies from the U.S. population.
