I was ready to end my life due to having lost all of what was familiar to me. I had trouble with hot flashes, mood swings, energy level, rational thought, focus, strength, stamina, and muscle maintenance. When my menopause experience worsened, I did try to take estrogen pills but that type of therapy has always had side effects for me. When my doctor started offering bioidentical hormone therapy, I started using a cream instead. That has worked so much better for the chemistry in my body. As my hormones ebb and flow, it is easy to modify the amount of cream used to better regulate the amount. I wasn't easily able to do that with pills. Everybody's body chemistry is different and it's been nice to have therapy regulated to my individual needs at doses that can easily be controlled. This is the future of medicine.

There are very few options for women for hormone treatment going through menopause. The medical field likes to prescribe a one size fits all hormone therapy, that we know has adverse side affects. I can work with someone who specializes in hormones to help me find the right amount of hormone therapy that is best for me as an individual using spit and blood testing. This has never been offered to me from a medical doctor. We are very behind in women's health- do not take this away. We are finally making some sense of the menopause struggles that are so unnecessary for women to fight through and the health risks that come along with no hormone treatment. Stop taking over decisions for my health and trust in the professional individuals that prescribe and compound these medications. They know a whole lot more about me and my health than the FDA or Big Pharma!

I would not ever consider "horse pee" hormones. I am content with the safety and excellent results with my bioidentical estradiol and progesterone.

My relationship with my children is better since I'm not as tired after work and can spend the afternoon and evening hours playing and engaging with them. My doctor checked my hormone levels, and as part of my hormone replacement therapy, has prescribed testosterone replacement, which is not something available at standard dosing levels for women. It was the addition of the testosterone into my medication regimen that helped me recover enough energy to get out and do things. I'm not ready to go back to feeling like it's all I can do to get out of bed.

I had both of my ovaries removed when I was only 35. None of the "traditional" pharmaceutical HRT products worked for me. I was severely depressed and suicidal. I was unable to focus enough to work (I was a technical writer). I quit driving after a couple of near misses with other vehicles. I was referred to a specialist in bioidentical HRT by my therapist.
