cBHT keeps me functioning. Without it, I would not be able to have a meaningful life. I first started on it about 10 years ago. I had my uterus removed at the age of 32 in 1988 (due to prolapse), so I hadn't had a menstrual cycle in a long time. About 13 years ago, I started having the hot flashes and the usual menopausal symptoms. Those weren't too bad, except for one. I had for many years the occasional ocular migraine. I would have it for a period of 30 minutes or so. It came along with vision impairment and disorientation, and then it would go away. I had also had a history of "sinus" headaches and motion sickness, which I now know was also migraine, but I had treated them with OTC medications for those diseases. When the menopausal symptoms started up, though, I got a blinding headache that would NOT GO AWAY. It was so bad I couldn't get out of bed. It lasted for three weeks. I couldn't function at all, and I had to function because I was the sole breadwinner for my household. At that time, I had a disabled daughter and a partly disabled husband at home. It took several months of trial and error, dietary experimentation, and testing several different drugs for the acute phase, but I finally got settled on a protocol that keeps me fully functional and living a fulfilled life. If I mess with any of it, I've got trouble. If I mess with the cBHT part of it, I've got REAL trouble and that happens within a day or two. cBHT is bioidentical, so I don't have to worry about the long-term effects of a strange chemical in my system. Which, since I am also very sensitive to chemicals and artifical substances, including flavors, dyes, and other man-made strangenesses that send me into fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, is something that concerns me a lot. The power of a compounding pharmacist to help me is something for which I am deeply grateful. I am also deeply grateful that I have had now five succeeding physicians who were willing to put their trust in her to provide me with this substance that has provided me with such relief. The physicians have departed to other pursuits and I, myself, have moved to a separate town. But the pharmacist is my constant link to the medicine that I need.

I started on traditional HRT after I had a hysterectomy at a young age. I took that for many years but stopped after the women's health study. It brought huge quality of life issues in the form of terrible hot flashes and not sleeping. I put up with that for two years and sought help through compounded bioidentical hormone replacement. Now I can actually sleep without waking up 3-6 times with hot flashes. As research has shown, quality sleep is vital to our health.
I work with two doctors, one MD and one ND, who carefully guide my therapy. They do regular blood tests and hormone panels to make sure the dosing is appropriate.
Last year I tried to switch back to a standard prescription patch for estrogen and that did not work for me. It delivered too much estrogen, even at half a patch, and it made my skin itch. I switched back to cBHT and am very happy.
I ask you to consider the needs of all women, not just those who may be candidates for more traditional therapy. In the hands of knowledgeable practitioners, I feel cBHT is safe.

When my primary care physician prescribed traditional menopause medication, I was physically ill from it. Cramping, bleeding, and irrational behavior. I continued having menopause issues. When I went to a doctor who specialized in hormone treatment, he prescribed bioidentical treatment. My life improved immeasurably. I no longer have ANY menopause symptoms or repercussions. When I reached perimenopause, I tried many standard pharmaceutical and herbal treatments for my menopausal symptoms and none gave relief. The pharmaceuticals caused massive and terrible side effects.
Then I followed my mother's advice and got a prescription for compounded HRT. It alleviated my symptoms, allowed me to sleep again, cleared my depression and brain fog and I once again became very good at my demanding job (software development) and started to enjoy life again. Prior to the treatment, I thought about death every day. My mom used compounded hormones for over 20 years. And they allowed her to have a great health and quality of life especially since she also deals with health problems due to post-polio syndrome.

My life barely felt worth living before I started cBHT. I had terrible hot flashes and this resulted in lack of sleep, no libido, foggy mental state, constant irritability. I started taking compounded hormone replacement at age 49, due to early menopause symptoms. These were not minor symptoms. The hot flashes I had occurred multiple times a day (approx. every 20 minutes) and through the night. Each occurrence lasted a few minutes but were so intense I sweated profusely, could not focus, and could not cool down. My sleep was so disturbed I was constantly tired. I slept on towels that were wet by morning. It was a debilitating condition that is difficult to understand by individuals that have never experienced such level of symptoms.
I called my gynecologist and her nurse suggested a one-size-fits-all patch of estrogen but had no other solutions and I was puzzled. The internet suggested herbal supplements, breathable clothing and exercise. Really?
When I finally visited with a doctor specializing in hormone replacement, he checked my hormone levels before determining dosage. My progesterone was at zero, and estrogen low as well. No wonder I was miserable, and was considering quitting my new high-level job, as I could not function in an office or in meetings without dripping sweat during the "flashes." Every year, he would check my levels and adjust the dosage.
From the moment I started on bioidentical hormone replacement creams, my life changed back to normal. It has been a miracle for me, saving my health and my career.
Please allow women to continue to have this option for an improved quality of life.
Men, pre-menopausal women, and women who transition easily into menopause have no idea how miserable life can be for those with bad symptoms. Do not make decisions for those that rely and thrive on this very essential treatment.

The combipatch my PCP prescribed did not ameliorate all of my menopausal symptoms. A couple of months after switching to bioidentical HRT, all of my symptoms were gone. My health is overall greatly improved. I exercise regularly, sleep well and enjoy an optimistic mood the majority of the time. One size fits all does not work for HRT. I trust my local pharmacist to compound my bioidentical HRT over a factory assembly line any day. Please do not take this life enhancing treatment option away!

cBHT has truly been a lifesaver for me, in a literal sense. Prior to taking cBHT, my symptoms were so severe that, at one point, I contemplated suicide (something that I never would have done prior to the onset of perimenopause). Within a week or so of being pelleted and supplemented, I felt happy, vibrant, energetic and balanced again. I must use a compounded form of progesterone, however. The FDA minimal approved dose is much too strong for me. I need a lower compounded dose and I am very glad that there are compounding pharmacies out there that can deliver customized medications. Each person is unique and so are our dosing requirements.

cBHT is the best thing I ever did. I had terrible PMS. It has helped me for 20 years. NO side effects. If you take it away or restrict it, I will find a way to maintain my sanity by getting hormones from another country. The FDA needs to stay out of this industry. They have enough to do with the covid dilemma. They don't even have qualified people making decisions about cBHT. My hair, skin, and nails look great. My ligaments are all good due to bioidentical hormones. I feel great and I am 60. I plan to take them until I die.

I have a renewed life with no side effects. Before the hormones, I had no energy and brain fog and since starting the hormones, my life is back to normal. Compounded hormones are important because everyone is different and taking ready made medication may not work well for some individuals... I struggle through this with my thyroid medication. You can only get a certain strength and it's either too much or not enough. I've even thought about switching to compounded thyroid medication but unfortunately that's not an option for me due to insurance coverage! Please do not restrict compounding hormones.
