After years of hormonal imbalance that most doctors didn't understand or want to treat since I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I finally found relief when labs showed that estrogen dominance, progesterone deficiency and testosterone deficiency were at the bottom of my breakthrough bleeding, severe PMS, irregular periods and non existent libido. As a woman, I am INFURIATED that insurance companies and the FDA hand out "the little blue pill" without question, but when women of childbearing age struggle with hormone difficulties not resulting in miscarriage, most doctors ignore our symptoms and even if they acknowledge them, act as though there's nothing to be done. That is simply NOT true. I didn't need an anti-depressant, mood stabilizer, or birth control. I needed uniquely compounded hormone support that addressed my unique hormone imbalances. I am an advocate of compounded medications in general because I have Celiac Disease and have been made very ill by regular prescription drugs so I get all of my prescriptions at my compounding pharmacy. This way I know exactly what is in them. I've not had any adverse reactions. I have chemical allergies also and this has been important for the bioidentical hormone cream and thyroid Rx as well. They both work very well and consistently as well. Since switching to bioidentical thyroid, I have been able to drop the dosage because it has worked so much better.

I tried 'sweating it out' for a couple of years with my hot flashes, but decided to discuss my options with my physician. I really liked the idea of the bioidentical hormone replacement where I would get only the dosage of each specific hormone that my body needed. It only makes sense that my hormone needs were specific to me and would not be the same as the next woman. My hot flashes were soon gone and the relief was wonderful!

After menopause and dropping my birth control pills, I had many severe symptoms including migraines, panic attacks and I lost the ability to fall asleep naturally. I was miserable and felt like I had lost myself. Within a month of hormone replacement, I felt back to my old self. I am 70 years old. I had a complete hysterectomy in 1992 (ovaries were removed). I was on hormone replacement therapy until 2008. Because I have heart issues, I was taken off the HRT I was using. This threw me into extreme menopause - my cholesterol, blood pressure both shot up and I experienced other health issues. I began a regiment of cBHT approximately 10 years ago and my quality of life is dramatically improved. My health has improved radically.

It has totally made a big difference in my life and how I feel. I do not have any night sweats or hot flashes. Once in a while I will be a little warm at night, but nothing like before I started taking them.
I would get so hot with hot flashes that I had sweat running down my face and my face would be bright red. This is not a great look when you are sitting in a meeting with peers or others for that matter. I could go outside on a below-freezing day and steam would come out of my neckline. I would drive to work in winter with my window halfway down and no jacket, I would be so hot.
Once I started these, my night sweats and hot flashes did not go away entirely, but they were tolerable and not as often. I would wake up in the middle of the night and be so sweaty, I would have to dry off. My pillow was wet and I would have to flip it over. My boyfriend could not stand the heat in the bed. I would have to stick one leg out of the covers and the ceiling fan was a must. It was horrible before I started taking them. I was also told I had a horrible disposition.

I am on a very low dose of the compounded hormone- a level that cannot be achieved with synthetic hormones. I have always reacted badly to hormone manipulation (i.e., birth control pills, etc.) and this is the best way for me to get relief from my menopause symptoms. This should continue to be an option for women who do not react well to synthetic treatments. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Deal with any concern through regulation not restriction.

The cBHT seems to help my dry skin and dry eyes. My dosage is extremely low, but it is very beneficial to me. Please do not restrict the use of cBHT.

My insurance company refused to continue to cover my testosterone replacement, contrary to my test results and doctor recommendation. He then wrote a prescription for the troche. The cost of it is equal to what I paid out-of-pocket for the cream through the insurance. My doctor periodically checks my testosterone levels, and can easily adjust the levels in the troche to match my needs. This results in a far more even effect on me. It has eliminated the irritability that I experienced with the creams I was required to use from my insurance company.
