When my doctor suggested to try a compound medication, I was leery but willing to try anything at this time. Low and behold, after a few different compounded mixtures we found my life changing, back to normal, and quality of life compound hormone therapy that works great!

I started out many years ago using Estrace cream, due to vaginal dryness. Using a coupon through Estrace, I got it for $10 a tube. Then when I used Medicare they denied Estrace cream and only offered Estradiol cream; cost right at $140/tube. Right after I was diagnosed with Lichens Sclerous disease and noticed the Estradiol cream caused added irritation to this disease. My OBGYN suggested using a compounded estradiol formula, it only has estradiol and vanicream as a additive in it. Whereas, prescription estradiol has multiple additives. Since going on the the compounded estradiol my quality of life went up tremendously. No added irritation to the complications of Lichen Sclerous and it has saved me so much in prescription cost. This has been a true blessing since I am on a fixed income. I pray they do not take the compounding option away.

At the age of 55 I had my uterus removed after months of heavy bleeding. My doctor told me afterward that I only needed estrogen, but about five years later, I luckily learned that I also need progesterone and testosterone, and they should come from a compounding pharmacy. It's been at least 10 years since I started a combination of all three hormones, and there is no way I could really articulate how they have helped me. The estradiol helps my skin, the progesterone helps my brain, helps me sleep, and prevents migraines, and the testosterone helps me feel better, happier, interested in the opposite sex. It is my understanding that the drug industry's hormones cause more cancer and heart disease. Why would anyone take them? Also, I am soon to begin taking a compounded thyroid capsule, similar to the pill I take now, but in a purer form and it will be time released, which is perfect! Thank you for the opportunity to say a little about these compounded hormones. I want all women to know about them.

After a failed spinal surgery, I began taking blood panels every six months to monitor my liver for any unintended consequences from the drugs I was put on. I had been feeling very tired, couldn't sleep, and had no sex drive, so I asked my physician to add anything to my panel he could to help me. We found out my body was making so little testosterone it was below the acceptable levels almost disappearing. No pharmacy had any pills that could address this low level issue so I went to cBHT and my levels came back to normal and it helped a stressed body tremendously. Pills aren't the answer to everything. EVERYONE'S body metabolizes drugs differently regardless of the DEA and FDA's extensive knowledge and opinions that one size fits all. A first year med student knows this.

Since 2000, I have had incontinence that was a horror. I read Dr. Christiane Northrup's book that hormones are helpful in establishing mire effective bladder control. I have been using cBHT now since 2006 quite effectively. My compounding pharmacy is well respected in my community, I have the utmost confidence in Pitt Street Pharmacy and my incontinence is managed well. Please do not make any change to my current access to cBHT. Keep Big Pharma out of my relationship with my doctor and me. I have tried Big Pharma's products unsuccessfully. I am a fully competent masters prepared LISW-CP. I have my entire career working in medicine and know my body's needs far more intimately than any other person.

Before hormone therapy, I was severely sleep deprived and was losing my hair. I had very little energy and was experiencing hot flashes that were miserable. I was miserable after my hysterectomy, life was nearly not worth living. I aged 10 years in one year. My muscles and bone were waisting away. I had absolutely NO sex drive. I would awake at night in puddles and could not sleep longer than two hours. I had palpitations, hot flashes, extreme irritability, and I was depressed. I was upset that I had no support from my insurance to cover a solution that has given my life back. But now I hear the compounding of hormones may be outlawed due to corporate greed. In this day you claim to want to help women but we all know is a joke. I will be devastated if this is taken away from me.

cBHT literally gave me my life back. Lack of hormones affects depression, dry skin, vaginal pain and dryness, muscle loss, and mood swings. Women should always have a choice to use bioidentical versus pharmaceutical. I have had side effects from Pharma hormone replacement and none with bio. Please allow women to make choices for their bodies without seeking financial gain of any sort or political involvement. My physician does bloodwork every six months to maintain my levels. I personally feel the risk are minimal at best. I have three friends who have had breast cancer in there fifties. None of which have ever taken hormone replacement.

In 1987 I had a gastric bypass. My thyroid was up and down for years until a holistic doctor figured out that my stomach was not digesting the medication. He promptly put me on compounded thyroid and I have been as close to perfect as I can get. It truly gave me my life back. To go back to the pills would destroy my lifestyle. At the present I take three compounded drugs due to my stomach surgery and all work as prescribed. Regular pills did not do the job.
