When I was premenopausal, I began having periods that lasted up to 45 days. I lost an obscene amount of blood. I ended up needing several blood transfusions, as no treatment was working. I was hospitalized a number of times. My doctor put me on a special compound of bioidentical hormone therapy of progesterone pills. Within six weeks, my periods starting slowing way down.
