Several years ago, I found that the quality of my life had taken a sudden shift and I was struggling to continue my normal daily activities. I was tired all the time, forgetful, mentally sluggish and often felt that I needed a nap in the afternoons. I felt weak and frail. In addition, I got sick more often than normal. I also had a myriad of side effects related to low hormones that ranged from just an annoyance to a daily problem for me. These included dry hair and hair loss, indigestion and bloating, weight gain, dry skin, dry eyes and visual inconsistency, hoarseness and throat irritation, lack of appetite, lack of libido, and depression. I think you get the picture. Basically, I had gone from being active and happy to being tired, irritable and depressed in the space of a year or so. I elected to use bioidentical hormones to address my health concerns and within two days I noticed a significant difference in mood and energy level. Over the next two weeks, things changed significantly for me. While I cannot say I feel like a 20 year old, I can say that I still have an active and enjoyable life with only minimal issues related to aging. I can honestly say that I could not work successfully in my chosen field of work (QA for pharmaceutical companies) without the hormone therapy to keep me feeling energetic and serene. I am so grateful that I found a non-invasive, easy to use drug treatment that allows me to continue to live a full life at 61. It is a shame that the medical community does not provide women with accurate and unbiased information about HRT as it would improve the quality of life of so many women. It is simply not good enough to be alive, life is about being healthy, happy and vibrant and bioidentical hormones have given that to me.
