Suffering painful monthly cramps and excessive loss of blood, during my teens & 20’s, my endometriosis finally invaded my female organs. I was 31 that year (1977). Dr. Jack Ford, my gynecologist, spent 4 hours during my total hysterectomy, attempting to scrape/remove the scar tissue and endometrial tissue from my lower colon. Dr. Ford told me I would have to take Hormone Replacement Therapy for the next 20 years. He reminded me that the female reproductive organs, and the hormones (14 varieties) they produced were not only for creating new life, they played an important role in many bodily functions, and losing my ovaries & uterus (and NOT taking hormones) would interrupt the rest of the endocrine glands work. I would age faster than normal, experience thyroid disorders, hair loss and brain functions quickly. He began a regimen of hormone pellet implants that I received 4 times/yearly. I continued that therapy for the next 43 years. Because of those hormones I had the energy, stamina and brain clarity to have a full life, marry a wonderful man and start my own corporate consulting firm. I worked for almost 40 years, and at 75 years of age I take a low dose of compounded HRT topically. Please do not destroy the lives & vitality of women who need these compounded substances to live a full and active life. Be kind enough to empathize with us. Especially now, at 75 yrs of age, I am happy, healthy and involved in life thanks to compounded HRT.
