“Life changing”
I can't express my fear of hearing that bioidentical hormones may be restricted by the FDA. Since 2001 when I had my hysterectomy my health care team has tried to get my hormones balanced out, using regular hormone therapy and I've struggled with migraines from it all with 17, up to 20 something migraines a month. Finally, I was introduced to bioidentical hormones in 2017 and my life has been changed. Before on the regular hormone therapy, they could not balance my hormones close enough.....small amounts at at time..... to prevent huge fluctuations, which in turn caused so many migraines. Now that I was able to slowly decrease the milligrams of hormone, small amounts at at time, which you can't do with the regular hormones as they only carry certain mg. amounts and the jumps were too much for me, I've been able to wein down to the right amount that my body needs to balance. My migraines have been cut in more than half and I feel like I've got my life back. Please, please don't take these away. I have NO idea how I would make it if these were taken away and I had to try to replace the amount I'm on now with regular hormones not compounded and bioidentical. The change would throw my system off and worsen my migraines once again, plus the other menopausal symptoms. My plan in the future is the hopefully, slowly wein down milligrams at a time to eventually get off hormone replacement therapy, but being a migrainer, my healthcare team said this may be difficult for me to go off and I may remain on these bioidentical hormones for years to come. Right now I'm am enjoying where I'm at and getting my life back, being able to go out of the house and making life plans again. Many woman will be affected by this restriction and I hope the testimonials that you receive along with mine will help you, the Congress work with the FDA on this manner of trying to restrict them. Thank you, Kathleen Sharek
