I want to share with you how compounded bio identical hormones have given me my life back and saved my marriage.
I guess menopause is never easy. It wasn’t for me. And, yet, I know women who’ve suffered far, far more than I have.
And I am not dramatic by nature. But I went from being rational, active, productive and career minded to being irrational, reclusive, depressed, and disengaged as my hormone levels declined. I so wanted to feel like myself again, to juggle the challenges life threw at me, to love my husband. But no one seemed to know how to help me get myself back. I talked with a therapist, saw my internist and more than one gynecologist, but nothing they prescribed (including pharmaceutically produced hormones) seemed to make a difference. Eventually, I was so depressed and debilitated that I left the workforce to just stay home. My finances, and my relationships, we’re a mess.

I also ask you to consider that the report from NASEM, prompting you to believe doing so may be prudent, could be as flawed as the initial Women’s Health Initiative findings were. When WHI findings were first published, millions of women abruptly lost access to hormones. They suffered emotionally and physically. My own mother descended into heart disease and dementia as a result. But successive evaluations of the data, by the very same researchers, came to very different conclusions. And today we know that hormones, and I believe especially compounded bio identical hormones, are safe and effective, and protect against cardiovascular diseases, cognitive decline, sarcopenia, and osteoporosis.
Please don’t repeat the mistakes of the past; mistakes that damaged women’s health, and destroyed lives. Our physicians and pharmacists have trained for decades to meet our needs. Treatment decisions should be left to them, and I hope you will agree that they should continue to have as many treatments options as possible at their disposal.
