I was diagnosed with stage IV Metastatic Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer in March 2004, the month of my 57th birthday. I had bone meds only and was put on Letrozole and Zometa, then got a second opinion at my oncologist's recommendation with a BC specialist at U of MI Cancer Center. My treating oncologist and second opinion oncologist, and my gynecologist, all recommended that I use compounded testosterone cream, applied to the outer vagina, to help prevent vaginal atrophy and dryness. I am now on third line cancer treatment and have been on the compounded testosterone since sometime in mid 2004, and I have never had the vaginal itching and irritation that can be a side effect of E + breast cancer treatment and little atrophy. I would be extremely upset if the FDA no longer allows this RX med to be used by breast cancer patients on anti-estrogen treatments. I vote, I have met Senator Debbi Stabenow and my U.S. Rep. Fred Upton and will be communicating with them about this issue. I have learned how to be a patient advocate, I write well, and I will certainly be a strong advocate for this! (This questionnaire options for why compounded treatment was started does not include an option that fits me or anyone who started using compounded med be counteract side effects of cancer treatment, and continuing is now allowed without picking an option that does not reflect our experience--that is on you!)

Hear their stories. Protect their own words. Protect their access to compounded medicines.

On this page, we can only touch on the data that demonstrates the importance of compounded medicines to the lives of millions of people in this country. While the decision to take this vital therapy from patients and physicians might be profitable for big pharmaceutical companies, it will be disastrous for the millions of patients that those same pharmaceutical companies cannot serve!

We encourage the appropriate committees in both the House and Senate to hold hearings on this critical issue.
