This isn't just about sex hormones, this is about ALL hormones and ALL compounded meds. When I started taking compounded thyroid replacement meds, I finally felt like ME again. My energy and motivation returned. My meds are time-released, so they mimic what my thyroid would do naturally - release hormones at a steady rate throughout the day. Synthetic/natural desiccated thyroid hormones DO NOT DO THIS. My doctor worked carefully with me and the pharmacy to tweak the amounts of T3 and T4 so I was probably medicated and symptom-free.

As I am now in menopause, my sex hormones needed help - they were tanked, probably due to issues with Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). My doctor again is working with me and the compounding pharmacy to find a low dose of hormone replacement to get me back to my motivated, energized self.

NOTE: We are NOT trying to make me have the energy of a 20-year old! that is not the point. The point is to have a *normal* life in menopause.

I hope these meds never go away - they are LIFE to me. Every single cell in our bodies need thyroid hormone to function properly, if they are denied that hormone, we become symptomatic and systems even start to shut down. That I am carefully monitored by my doctor (3-4 times a year) to make sure I am not over or under medicated gives me great confidence in taking these meds. They should be always and forever made available to us.
