Bioidentical hormones literally saved me. I need them to continue my life. I would no longer have a sexual relationship or a husband for that matter if it weren't for CBHRT. I was 37 years old when I started going through the change of life. My bone in my neck starting curling, weight became a problem, my joints hurt and became very stiff, and most importantly I could not have sex. My vagina was so dry it actually hurt to walk. After taking bioidentical hormones, my joints were lubricated, my bones became stronger, my hair filled out, my complexion became better and my face didn't look so haggard, and most importantly I kept my husband from fulfilling his sexual fantasies with someone else. It hurt way too much for us to have sexual intercourse and he was only 34 years old. I am now 64 years old and feeling like 35, which I attribute to bioidentical hormones. I did try the horrible horse urine HRT therapy. It was a disaster. I actually had a mental breakdown (all the time crying and not understanding how I could feel so physically awful) the first time using HRT. My body bloated and my breasts became twice as large and it felt like you could stick a pin in me and I would pop. I gained about 15 pounds. I felt sick and stopped taking them very quickly just so I could feel some sense of normalcy with my body. I was talked into it again by my OBGYN just recently - she told me they were new and all natural. So, once again I tried them with an open mind. The experience was the same...she lowered the dose and it didn't help. It is my body and it should be my choice what I put into it; I choose bioidentical hormones. If this choice is taken away it will be like living in one of those countries where they literally sew up the woman's vagina. I will be shut down and don't believe I should be abused that way by the FDA. Who allows big pharmaceutical companies to produce drugs that can kill me as a side-effect.
