Bio-identical hormones saved my life!

I am a 58-year-old menopausal woman from Wisconsin. I have generally lived a healthy lifestyle and work as a Personal Trainer and Physical Therapist Assistant so my health and the health of others are extremely important to me. When I was a few months from turning 51 it seemed as if my brain and body stopped working and I was living in a shell of my body. The most horrible feeling I had ever felt. My health was under attack. I immediately showed up at my gynecologist and was tested to confirm that I was officially menopausal. During the first 2 months after I had 50-70 hot flashes per day at work which led to migraines lasting days and weeks and extreme exhaustion. I was put on bio-identicals: estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone at my request due to my sensitivities to chemicals. Within 2 months my symptoms were getting under control. I also did more testing and had an MRI done on my brain and then the Cancer MD reported that I do not have any tumors or cancer that I had severe menopausal symptoms and I needed to be put on HRT and anti-depressants. The MD refused to discuss any other options. Migraines continued at a moderate pace even with the bio-identical however this did get better over time and now they are managed by OTC pain medicine. I currently get tests 1 x per year for my hormonal levels and living a normal life in which I am able to work and be a productive part of society and family life. Please do not take this option away from women. Menopause is a major physical and psychological and mental shift and women's bodies are sensitive in nature that needs supportive treatments. Even though I had a severe case I believe I made the right choice for the future of my health.

Hear their stories. Protect their own words. Protect their access to compounded medicines.

On this page, we can only touch on the data that demonstrates the importance of compounded medicines to the lives of millions of people in this country. While the decision to take this vital therapy from patients and physicians might be profitable for big pharmaceutical companies, it will be disastrous for the millions of patients that those same pharmaceutical companies cannot serve!

We encourage the appropriate committees in both the House and Senate to hold hearings on this critical issue.

Explore our interactive map that demonstrates the importance of compounded medicines to patients all across the country. Filter these first-hand accounts by state to see just how vital compounded medicines are.
