I'm 62 years old. At 47, I had early onset of Alzheimers. I was forgetful, exhausted, unfocused, irritable, sleepless, and had a memory of three minutes. I saw several physicians, had many tests, and results showed nothing, all was "normal". I am a postmenopausal female who did not tolerate commercially prepared and FDA approved estriol treatments. I have multiple sensitivities and found them to cause great skin irritation. I'm telling my story to protect compounded bioidentical hormones. I've been taking bioidentical hormones now for eight years and its been a life savior. I even had to pay full price since my insurance stop paying for it. It's been a blessing and when I heard FDA might ban my medication I am truly devastated if they ban compounded bioidentical hormones. I am 61 years old and it is helping me stay healthy and vibrant. Bioidentical hormones literally saved me. I need them to continue my life. I would no longer have a sexual relationship or a husband for that matter if it weren't for CBHRT. I felt sick and stopped taking them very quickly just so I could feel some sense of normalcy with my body. I was talked into it again by my OBGYN just recently - she told me they were new and all natural. So, once again I tried them with an open mind. The experience was the same...she lowered the dose and it didn't help. It is my body and it should be my choice what I put into it; I choose bioidentical hormones. If this choice is taken away it will be like living in one of those countries where they literally sew up the woman's vagina. I will be shut down and don't believe I should be abused that way by the FDA. Who allows big pharmaceutical companies to produce drugs that can kill me as a side-effect.
