I had to have a total hysterectomy when I was 32. I was on a FDA pill form that did NOTHING to stop my hot flashes and night sweats from surgical menopause. I was not going to take a pill made out of horse urine either. My doctor advised me to try natural compound hormonal replacement. It has been life-changing for me. I will never go back to that horse urine pill again. If you are a woman reading this and suffer from the side effects of surgical total hysterectomy, you will understand why you will go to what works for your body. I know what works for my body, please DON'T take away from me what works. I do not want to go back into the hell of the side effects again. I've been on the compounded hormonal replacement for 23 years. Now that should show it works!

I had such severe hormonal imbalances that I wound up in the emergency room in severe pain, which could only be helped with morphine. Taking the cBHT has given me my life back. Prior to using cBHT, I was having continuous hot flashes, mood swings and other post menopausal discomforts. The use of cBHTs has greatly moderated or completely eliminated these issues WITH NO PERCEPTIBLE SIDE EFFECTS. The fact that they are adjusted periodically based on the results of hormone tests to best meet my particular needs indicates to me that a "one size fits all" product would not be effective.

I have been using cBHT since the early 90's to regulate unbearable hot flashes and night sweats that began pre-menopause. I have always utilized a gynecologist for functional medicine to test hormone levels at least every six months so my script is kept in sync with resulting lab results. If this medication is not available, I would again experience unbearable hot flashes, night sweats, loss of sleep, mood swings and fatigue. My hormonal needs have been gradually decreasing, thus my ultimate goal is to be free of taking cBHT...eventually. I thank my functional medicine PA for her ability to regulate my hormone levels and my compounding pharmacy for their ability to compound my BHT to my specific needs. And I pray they will continue to provide those skills and abilities not only for me but others who experience unbearable hormone fluctuations during pre and post menopause.

I experienced ovarian failure at age 38 and immediately went into menopause. I was very ill and could hardly get out of bed. I tried FDA hormones and got very little relief. In 2010, I suffered from the deepest depression of my life. I had been on a low dose of Lexapro for several years before 2010. Lexapro quit working for me. My GP doctor raised my dosage. It didn't help. He prescribed another medication. It didn't help either and I didn't know how much longer I would live. I didn't want to kill myself, but I didn't want to live either. Finally, my GP doctor didn't know what else to do. I tried a psychologist and that didn't help either. I found a nurse practitioner who ran several tests on me and together we decided to try bioidentical hormone replacement. Slowly, it worked and I began to feel better than I ever had. I have probably had a hormone imbalance for most of my adult life that resulted in depression among other symptoms. I am very grateful to have found this solution which I have used for the last 10 years. My quality of life is much better because of hormone replacement which allows me to be successful in my work as a teacher and also benefits my family.

When I was 36 years old, I had to have a complete hysterectomy. I tried pills, but could not absorb them. I used a patch for years but I became allergic to wearing them. I heard about compounding and it was an answer to a prayer for me. It changed so many things in my life. I am 70 years old now and have been on compounded hormones for about 20 years. They have made such a difference in my life; a good one. I could not have continued with the patches and pills. This was the best solution for me.

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis; it's a delicate balance between my gut, thyroid, and adrenals. In regards to thyroid medication, I tried non-compounded and my thyroid antibodies went extremely high. On compounded T3/T4, they remain at a decent level. With compounded hormones, I've been able to adjust my prescription as my body has changed from pre-menopause to menopause. Given the experience I've had, I dread to imagine the other health issues that would arise if I wasn't able to tailor my prescription to my body's individual needs. As I said, it's a delicate balance. While there are many things in common between everyone's bodies, each person is an individual in how we react to our environment, food, medications, etc. We need more holistic, individualized medical care, not less.

After menopause, my body basically shut down. No amount of exercise or diet would affect the extra weight, exhaustion or lack of mental clarity. There was no sympathy from medical doctors who just deemed it a necessary step to dying out when I had 30 more years to live. cBHT has brought quality of life back, my body responds to diet and exercise, and all my vitals are strong. I exercise, eat right and moderate life on every level, so why does the medical field get to decide my quality of life when ALL OF THEM just shrugged and said get used to it as an answer. There are no studies to my knowledge that deem cBHT a health hazard and to deny the public its choice on how to age when there is another way is not the government's right to decide. Inform me and let me choose. It is my right.
