I started having a very hard time sleeping in my early 40's. Sleep is everything. Lack of proper sleep has been shown to advance Alzheimer's disease, affect insulin levels, increase anxiety, and affect the body's ability to heal. I refuse to take any FDA drugs for sleep that have clearly dangerous side effects of making me want to kill myself or other people. My hormones have given me back my ability to sleep peacefully at night. I have not experienced any ill effects of my hormone levels being at a healthier level than that of a typical 53 year old woman who would normally be overweight, be pre-diabetic, have nasty mood swings, horrendous night sweats, and have their hair falling out. It's disgusting to me that the FDA wants to eliminate my ability to choose a safe alternative to the myriad of dangerous drugs that I would have to take to try and duplicate what my natural hormones already do, and safely.

For 15+ years and counting I have been on E and P. My heart, brain, bones, etc. have not declined but increased in health as per my lab tests. I would encourage all women post-menopause to use these Rx instead of heart meds, brain meds, and bone meds. Natural therapy is the way to go. Wiley Protocol is my method of health. When I ceased the premarin my menapausal symptoms returned in spades - severe hot flashes, inability to sleep and to focus. I began using bioiedentical hormone creams 10 years ago and all symptoms abated. I am currently taking estradiol and testosterone cream as well as progesterone troches. I am currently 62 years old. I hit menopause right at 50 with unbearable symptoms that I do not think were even on a symptom list. I also suffered from rough hot flashes. One day while having lunch with a friend, I had a hot flash. My lunch friend asked me if I was going through menopause and if so I must try bioidentical hormone pellets. At this point I had nothing to lose. I went and had my first insertion nine years ago. I was so amazed that within two weeks I had no more hot flashes and no more unusual other symptoms. I also wanted to note, that before I heard of the pellets I used every means of ointments, oils, creams that the doctors had prescribed. Nothing worked. One doctor even prescribed anti-depressants, which I did not consider at all. What an amazing change it was for me. Night and day! I am perplexed why this wonderful option for women in menopause is not covered by insurance and not approved. I get two insertions a year to feel like a human being again.
