At the age of 40, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. I was severely hypothyroid. Within two weeks of starting Synthroid I developed severe anxiety. This was treated with high doses of two psychotropic drugs for many years. About four years ago I found a doctor who was willing to prescribe compounded T3/T4. He also was very knowledgeable of how other female hormones are affected by the thyroid. After testing he started me on estrogen and compounded progesterone. Within a matter of a few short weeks my anxiety was gone. Shortly after I was able to begin tapering off the psychotropic drugs. (I had been treated with hormones previously but had been prescribed a synthetic progestin. I had very negative side effects with this.)

Hear their stories. Protect their own words. Protect their access to compounded medicines.

On this page, we can only touch on the data that demonstrates the importance of compounded medicines to the lives of millions of people in this country. While the decision to take this vital therapy from patients and physicians might be profitable for big pharmaceutical companies, it will be disastrous for the millions of patients that those same pharmaceutical companies cannot serve!

We encourage the appropriate committees in both the House and Senate to hold hearings on this critical issue.
