“Compounded Thyroid replacement”
I have required Thyroid replacement therapy for 29 of my 69 years on earth, and I have been prescribed various FDA-approved pharmaceuticals, including Synthroid, Thyrolar, etc. In each case, I broke out in hives! I do not know what particular chemical that is in these medicines that I am allergic to, but I am NOT allergic to the compounded Thyroid hormone therapy. I would prefer to buy cheap HRTs that insurance would pay for, but I simply CANNOT TOLERATE them. So instead, I self-pay for the cBHRTs that I can take. PLEASE DO NOT RESTRICT COMPOUNDED HORMONE THERAPIES!!! I don't know how I can function without the only form of thyroid my body can tolerate.

“Prior to using compounded thyroid, my body was a wreck. This medication saved me.”
Compounded thyroid medicine leveled off my medical swings and significant health issues. I depend on them and am grateful to my doctor and my Community Compounding Pharmacy’s expertise in the work they do for re-establishing and enhancing my quality of life.
Please DO NOT RESTRICT BIO-IDENTICAL HORMONES! The AMA version of thyroid meds absolutely does not work for me!

“Thyroid USP 32.5 mg”
For several years I was tested and had to have my thyroid adjusted. Most medications were in increments of 15 mg., 30 mg. 45 mg and 60 mg. However, I needed something more specific to my individual needs. The USP 32.5 mg was exactly what I needed. It has brought my numbers in the correct range. I feel that taking anything else is going backwards to a less specific medication. I have taken other compounded thyroid medications and know that this one is best for me - a proper balance.
“Compounding is the only way I can receive medications.”
I was chemically poisoned with a chemical called ortho dichlorobenzene in 1981. With that happening, I have endured tremendous sensitivities to many different products and foods throughout my adult years causing loss of employment and opportunities, besides the complete deterioration of my health. Upon being diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1994, I was prescribed Synthroid, Levothyroxine to finally Armour Thyroid, and NP Thyroid. Unfortunately, my TSH constantly fluctuated and I felt completely unwell all the time. With my own research, I discovered all contained corn or a derivative of it. Because of my corn allergy and other sensitivities, my doctor prescribed compounded desiccated thyroid. It has been a lifesaver! My TSH has been level since the change, 3 years ago. A first in 25 years! Now all my prescriptions have to be compounded.

“Truly our body should be our choice.”
I am sill working through my Thyroid story. I was diagnosed with Hoshimoto's & ' Hypothyroidism in 1998. I struggle with high levels of reverse T3 my body truly was happy when I could take NaturThroid but it was removed from the market. I am still searching for a replacement thyroid that doesn't create thyroid storm symptoms or leave me feeling flat. I believe the FDA and the federal government have done enough! and should just step away from its citizens who would like some true body autonomy and true health care options.

“Thyroid and other herbal products”
I was given Pharmaceutical drugs for my thyroid problem, they were horrible. I was losing my hair a nervous wreck to the point of road rage. I changed doctors, he put me on compounded thyroid meds, and my hair started growing back and I began to feel better.
Then I had another problem that finally got fixed, I had Chronic Radiation Cystitis, and bled for years, 1975 to 1979, blood in my urine, burning urine, and the doctor gave me prescription's for the problem, didn't work at all, none of several that he gave me. So I joined a church and they suggested I quit smoking and get Vitamin B Complex, to help clear my lungs, I did, and Vitamin B complex worked wonders, it cleared up my bladder, and haven't had ongoing bleeding, it helped it. I would hope that you will not stop compounded hormones, they are a lifesaver. I have allergies to lots of meds, but the Health food Industry has helped me tremendously. Please don't close them down.
Thank you for your consideration.

“Please don’t take away the only meds that help!”
I’m glad you don’t understand this problem. I hope you never do, and I hope your children never do. I spent years of my life taking Levo thyroid medication. The hair loss, brain fog, and exhaustion were awful. It was hard to work and take care of my kids. I found desiccated meds and things were better, but nowhere near “normal”. Compounded thyroid meds gave me my life back. My eyes stopped being so dry that they felt like sandpaper. My hair stopped falling out in clumps. I would stop and think for a minute if someone you love ends up having this problem and can’t get the help they need because of this decision, how will you feel?
“Thyroid suppression cancer”
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2006 and had Thyroidectomy. Also two treatments of Radioactive iodine after treatment I developed allergies to iodine binding agents like Microcrystalline, so I was put on armor thyroid then I don’t what happened but they started adding binding agents to it I could no longer take it. I started getting thyroid meds compound with Tapioca I’ve been doing thyroid suppression for years because of nodules close to my vocal cord. I finally am stabilized the nodules are no longer growing my Dr. said if grows any more will need surgery I have only one vocal cord so it’s a risk of having a Trachea in my throat, losing my voice it is very important that I stay on this medication the FDA is playing with people lives. Help keep compound thyroid legal.
“Thyroid”
Last summer I experienced severe depression, was tested, and found out I was hypothyroid. My doctor prescribed WP Thyroid (bovine-derived), and I was completely back to normal in just a month, with NO side effects, except for finally feeling normal. Recently, my bloodwork indicated low thyroid again, and I was told that WP is no longer available!!! I panicked but found NP Thyroid which is also a bovine source. I feel it's really important to have natural sources/help for the thyroid, given the numerous stories I hear from my friends who are taking synthroid -- each one of them experiencing extreme frustration because consistent levels are almost impossible to achieve. Medicine is an art, and patients should have a variety of ALL options!
“I, and many others like me, do not feel well taking synthetic thyroid medicine.”
I developed thyroid problems approximately 12 years ago. I was prescribed Synthroid. My doctor continued to increase the dosage, but I never felt well. I was so foggy-headed, I would get lost going to the grocery store. I had to ask my husband how to get to places that I had been to hundreds of times before. I was afraid to drive alone. I was so forgetful. I usually did not know what day it was. My quality of life was miserable. My doctor would not change my medication, he wouldn't listen, so I went to an endocrinologist. She prescribed Armour Thyroid. I took a dose, and the effect was amazing, after all that suffering I finally felt normal again! Please do not restrict my access to this medicine. If this happens, I will attempt to move to another country where I can get this medicine. If I am unable to move away, I will most surely consider ending my life, I just can't go back to being a foggy-headed vegetable of a person.
“Thyroid hell”
In 2014 my thyroid went haywire. I had developed a toxic nodule that caused my thyroid to become overactive. There are a litany of symptoms that go along with this condition and it makes one miserable. Once diagnosed, on the recommendation of an Endocrinologist, my thyroid was treated with radioactive iodine, rendering me hypothyroid for the remainder of my life. Thyroid medications were prescribed and helped some of the symptoms, but I still felt awful. My doctor prescribed a compounded, time released Liothyronine (T3) medication, to go along with my other thyroid medications, and within 30 days I was feeling better. Within 60 days I was myself again. It would be tragic if our government restricted use of these kinds of medications. My doctor also prescribed compounded B12 injections due to a deficiency, a condition that a supplement didn't help.

“I need compounded thyroid medicine daily.”
I’m 53 years old and I’ve been taking daily thyroid medicine since I was first diagnosed at 19 years old. At first, the doctor prescribed synthetic medicine. For years I got sicker and sicker. Eventually, the disease progressed and so I now also have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I didn’t have the energy to take care of myself, and my ability to show up to work every day was severely impacted. A new doctor prescribed a different type of thyroid medicine called natural desiccated thyroid. It made all the difference! In 2015 the lab that makes my thyroid medication had supply issues. Every month I had to call multiple pharmacies looking for enough medicine to fill 30 days of pills. I had to call my doctor to rewrite prescriptions because the dose was written for a particular tablet strength and that tablet was not available. I tried a partially synthetic compounded medicine and my health declined. I finally found a doctor who knew of another compounding pharmacy that could make the dose I needed in the powder form of natural desiccated thyroid. This saved me! I’m able to work and take care of myself. Without this daily medicine, I would be on disability.

“Thyroid hell...”
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I will keep it brief. When I was 25 I underwent pituitary surgery for Cushing's disease, to extract a tumor. Post-surgery has been all over the place. Here I am 14 years later and I still struggle with finding a balance with my thyroid medications. I’m currently on T3, Cytomel, and I want OFF. It used to work so so well for me. And now all I want are my compounding t3 meds again. I took them years ago and my doctor recently suggested I try them again. The difference is huge! All I can say is it would be TRAGIC to remove this option. The differences include but are not limited to the following-a feeling of a much smoother reaction it doesn’t jolt me like my Cytomel T3, it’s like comparing matcha tea to a strong espresso. I get jittery on the traditional meds! They have saved my life though bc I end up with SEVERE depression off of them. However, something isn’t right- I also have suffered from extreme hair loss, and every time I restart or change my dose of Cytomel I deal with clumps of hair loss. My stomach feels wacky and I get diarrhea all the time. I get hard to describe weird sensations in my head that nothing can fix, but if I don’t take my thyroid meds I’ll be hypothyroid again within a week. T3 also isn’t the problem, I tried T4 and had literally ZERO improvements in symptoms, just dealt with side effects and ultimately felt the same or worse. T3 has been my savior for 1.5+ decades and I’m not ready to give it up. On compounding T3, I have been way more stable, with zero hair loss, a smooth feeling, no weird head feelings, my mood stays up and I’m not depressed while also not anxious (like I sometimes am on conventional T3). Please please don’t take this away. It would be a travesty to soooooo many people. Additionally, the progesterone cream I got from the compounding pharmacy was perfect. I gained weight (20+ pounds) on every other one I’d tried except for this version. Thank you.
“Thyroid issues resolved.”
I use a naturally compounded thyroid pill which has given me great success on bloodwork. I feel much more comfortable using this versus pharmacological-produced medicine.

“I need T4 and T3 to control my Hashimotos Thyroiditis.”
I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis and I have to treat it with a combination of T4 & T3 therapy based on my test results. No mainstream doctor even knows how to diagnose these tests or how to prescribe for my condition.

“Pharmaceuticals do not work for my thyroid”
I am hypothyroid for 20 years. I was prescribed Synthroid, then Levothyroxine, and neither improved my symptoms. Then I was prescribed Armor Thyroid, then Natural Thyroid and my symptoms persisted. It wasn't until I was prescribed a compounded prescription of a balanced formula or T3 and T4 - the exact mcg that my body was missing - that my symptoms resolved. I pay a premium for this medication as commercial insurance and Medicare do not cover a clinical compound. But I am willing to pay for a prescription that actually works for me and relieves my hypothyroid symptoms. My Thyroid will not respond to pharmaceutical company artificial formulas.
“struggled with synthetic thyroid pills”
Could not find a balance when my thyroid died and my primary western doctor provided prescriptions for synthroid or levothroid. I struggled for years until I met and went under the care of a naturopath. She tested my thyroid levels and said she could do much better with bio-identical hormones compounded at a specialty pharmacy. She offered a 3-way call with the pharmacist and herself so that they could explain to me what to watch out for as they slowly increased my thyroid amount to give my body a chance to experience a very narrow range of "normal". I now have enough energy and feel completely normal again, in every activity that I do, every day.

“Thyroid issue”
At 60 I was having panic attacks, extreme fatique, fogginess, depression, anxiety and was put on a number of anti depressants, the last one being Mirtazapene.
I became so sick that eventually I was committed to a lock down two week experience at a hospital. This cost to the State where I was living over 40 thousand dollars for my two week stay.
This could all have been avoided if I was treated by an endocrinologist to get the correct compounding thyroid combination of T3 and T4 at a personalized quantity. The hormones I need must be compounded and individualized for me. We need compounding pharmacies to individualize the needs of everyone instead one pill for all.

“At long last, bioidentical thyroid results in perfect thyroid levels”
For decades, my doctor had a hard time getting my thyroid levels correct. I had headaches, weight gain, and low energy. Once I started bioidentical T3 and T4 at Pharmacy Solutions, my levels are perfect and my symptoms have improved. My insurance doesn't pay for bioidentical medication, so I pay for this myself. The number of people who are willing to pay out of pocket for bioidentical medications and compounded pharmaceuticals, as opposed to insurance-reimbursed synthetic medications, should tell you something.
As a menopausal woman, I'm disappointed in modern medicine's failure to truly understand hormones and how they all affect one another . My wonderful internal medicine doctor says they don't really teach much about hormones in med school. I went to an endocrinologist, thinking she would know how to optimize and balance all my hormones (thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, adrenals, testosterone, etc.) but no, she just treats thyroid and adrenal disorders and diabetes. She had no training in estrogen or progesterone or testosterone.
As important as hormones are, it's crazy that medical doctors know so little about them or how to keep them in balance.
Medical doctors are also prone to prescribe synthetic thyroid medication and synthetic progestin, both of which have caused women all kinds of problems. This is likely because pharmaceutical companies benefit more from synthetic prescription medicine than what is found medically superior natural hormones.
No one cares about old women, but unbalanced hormones affects men and women of all ages. Lack of testosterone and heart disease. Low progesterone and PMDD and mental health issues. Synthetic birth control and metabolic syndrome and vascular dementia. According to Medscape, 75% of patients feel better on natural dessicated thyroid than synthetic Synthroid, yet most doctors prescribe Synthroid.
If I were younger, I would become an M.D. or D.O., but I would also travel the world to learn everything I could about hormones. Helping people to balance their hormones so that they work together optimally could reduce all kinds of illness and disease.
Healthcare needs to get back to focusing on the patient rather than profit, including releasing the chokehold insurance companies have on doctors and patients, where they control much of healthcare, such as what medications are prescribed, how long a patient can stay in the hospital, how long an elderly patient can receive physical therapy or stay in a nursing facility.
Please do NOT take away the people's choice of bioidentical hormones and compounded medications. Their health would suffer as a result.
