I'm writing to you to let you know how CRITICAL compounding pharmacies are to the health of so many women! My personal story is that I was diagnosed with PMDD in 2013 and was prescribed an antidepressant. Unfortunately, had I consulted with a doctor who specializes in bioidentical hormones (prescribed by compounding pharmacies) I could have PREVENTED getting endometrial cancer 5 years later in 2018.

I consulted with a hormone specialist 3 months ago, who informed me that PMDD is typically caused by low progesterone which left untreated will cause estrogen to become dominant and cause the endometrial lining of the uterus to become thick and generate cancerous cells. Fortunately, I discovered the cancer early on (Stage 1) but have been suffering from surgical menopause (disrupted sleep every night due to night sweats, migraine headaches, weight gain, etc.) since my hysterectomy in October, 2018.

Since discovering a hormone specialist, she prescribed several bio identical hormones to use that are all produced by a compounding pharmacy. Since starting this hormone regimen, I can now sleep through the night, have lost weight and haven't had any migraines. There were no other effective solutions for me. I consulted with several gynecologists, including the head of Cleveland Clinic's Women's hospital.

I urge you to not prevent compounding pharmacies from prescribing these life saving bioidentical hormones.

Peri and menopause hit me harder than just about anyone I know. I suffered immensely for several months with a long list of symptoms like insomnia, pain, mood irregularities, hot flashes and more. I thought my life was over. I eventually learned about hormone replacement therapy. I decided to give it a try, and while FDA-approved synthetic hormone replacement therapy provided some relief, I still had numerous symptoms and poor quality of life. It all began 2 years ago when I began noticing changes to my sleeping habits, which affected my mood. I decided to visit my doctor and I quickly discovered I was in pre-menopause. I ran to one gynecologist to the next when I started realizing something wasn't right when I was eating well and gaining wait, sleeping a full 9-10 hours a night and still exhausted beyond repair. Each MD told me that I needed to exercise more and increase my anti depressant dose, even though I was so proud to be getting myself off those. I was put on birth control, given high dose metformin, and sent on my way. When I kept coming back they would check my bloodwork and tell me everything looked perfect. I knew that it wasn't. Women have a lot of trouble with their hormones. It is very difficult to get these from pharmacies run by insurance companies. Please do not restrict these so deeply that we will not be able to access them. It’s finally making a difference in how I feel. I have been on many other medication‘s and still am on this medication‘s. I think this could prolong my life

Before pellet placement I had no energy, low libido, foggy thinking. About a week or two later I felt a surge of energy, libido came back and I was able to think more clearly. It makes so much sense….. test what your low in, make a hormone cream to fill in what your missing…. And you feel and act like a normal human again! WHY would the FDA want to take away what works? Please let the absolutely necessary compounding pharmacies still care for us like the pharmacy of the older days… give us what helps and teach and guide us! Not what is mass produced and might “be close” and ineffective. Makes no sense!!
