I have taken Synthroid and Armour Thyroid for my hypothyroid condition and, while Armour got me closer to ideal than Synthroid, the compounded pill formulation I take now gets me absolutely perfect. My internal medicine doctor is very happy with it. I also do compounded testosterone cream and it helps with my energy levels and weight. I used to do compounded progesterone cream, but decided to switch to pills because of the cost. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and they do not cover compounded medications, so I have to pay for my thyroid medication and my testosterone myself. But it is worth it because I can't get these correct with traditional medications.
I would also prefer to do progesterone cream over the prescription pills, but having three compounded medications I have to pay for myself is just too expensive. So I get the traditional progesterone to save at least a little money.
