Going through menapause I lost the ability to sleep through the night, gained 20lbs, and lost all motivation for activities, My moodiness and lethargic behavior became an issue in my marriage and we separated on a trial basis. had two bouts of chronic illness that lasted over ten years. the first one was a gut infection that caused me to become severely underweight. I tried to go on birth control to balance my hormones again but they would cause me cyclical bacterial vaginosis which is common with synthetic birth control. When I went on bioidentical progesterone, this really saved my life. It restarted my period and it kept me healthy, helped me gain weight and increase my appetite when my gut couldn't function again yet.

In my early 50's I started having terrible hot flashes, to the point where I would literally be soaking wet, with sweat dripping down my back and neck and face, even in the middle of the day. I don't know why but I am very sensitive to many medications, and compounded hormones have saved me from these debilitating hot flashes. I am also a pharmacy technician and I started my career as a compounding technician. Now I work in a hospital and many of our patients are prescribed compounds to help them through their hospital stays. Please don't hold compounded hormones to the same standards that drug manufacturers have to follow. It is a literal impossibility given the thousands of formulations needed to to treat an individual's need. Thank you for reading.

I have been using Bio-identical Progesterone Cream for over 15 years now. I was having numerous sleeping and mood issues after I had a single mastectomy 18 years ago.

This has been lifechanging for me as it has given me the ability to have a more restful night sleep without numerous hot flashes also. It has helped to stabilize my moods too. I know I am not using the actual progesterone which my OB-GYN Midwife strongly advised against using. She did not understand the bio-identical hormone therapy until she monitored my results and was able to see the good changes that were happening to me.

It would truly be a huge disservice if these compounding pharmacies were not allowed to provide this hormone therapy to so many in need of it.

I am telling why I believe I have benefited from taking cBHT. I come from a long line of women who has pretty severe osteoporosis and a few years after menopause, it looked like I was going to be following in their footsteps. My doctor recommended I try taking a compounded BHT and I agreed. I did not have any problems with night sweats, mood swings or other typical menopausal symptoms, only bone loss. I've been taking a pretty low dosage of cBHT for about 5 years (I'm currently 63) and all of my bone scan numbers have gotten better. This is good news for me as I will not take any synthetic HRT nor will I be taking any bone-enhancing pharmaceuticals with their inherent side effects. As a delightful side effect, my sex life has never been better (even from when I was in my early years). I think my hormones were always a bit haywire and now they seem to be very steady.

I am adamantly opposed to an FDA interference with the availability of cBHT. Let consumers decide for themselves, please.

It has come to my attention that the FDA is seriously considering restricting the use of cBHT based on a report from NASEM that DID NOT include patient outcomes. How is this possible??

When it was time for me to receive medication for HRT my gynecologist at that time prescribed the usual pharmaceutical prescription. It has been so long ago, I don't remember exactly what it was. If necessary, my medical records can be checked through my current gynecologist, Dr. Tempest Allen (Kalamazoo, MI). I was ill for several weeks before realizing the only thing in my life that had changed was the new HRT prescription.

My symptoms were headache, nausea and extreme fatigue. I was unable to work because of this. After stopping the medication, my health returned to normal. After discussing this issue with my physician, he recommended compounded hormones and recommended the health care professionals trained in determining the correct levels of hormones for my body.

This type of hormone replacement did not make me ill and permitted me in living up to my full potential. Better health and a stronger body allows me to contribute more fully to my community. I submit this is reason enough to allow patients to continue with the prescribed protocols without interference from the FDA.

I have used compounded hormones for over 15 years. As someone who has had frequent adverse reactions to prescription medications (including traditional hormone therapy), compounded hormones have been a life-saver for me. My physicians and nurse practitioners have been able to individually tailor the doses to meet my needs - preventing adverse reactions and allowing me to maintain optimal health. These drugs are safe and effective; their availability is critical and should not be restricted.

I have been on compounded bioidentical hormones now 3 yrs and the entire quality of my life has changed only for the better. To not have these vital hormones I feel 100% safe with for me will be a complete nightmare and never do ZI wish to go back to the way I was living without my hormones.
I study hormones, I am a health coach soon to be graduating functional medicine school, I interview a physician who has been treating women in menopause for 27 years also being a holistic doctor 50. There are over 8 million woman who do take compounded bio identical hormones, love them - to my knowledge have had no problems with them at l and the quality of their lives greatly improved with. It is our choice really that matters and out relationship with or physicians who specialize in treating menopausal women with compounded bioidentical hormones. TY so much!!!!

As many of you know, I’m working on a coalition to prevent the FDA from putting compounded hormones (estradiol, estrone, estradiol, estriol, dehydroepiandrosterone, pregnenolone, progesterone, testosterone, testosterone cypionate, and testosterone propionate) on the Difficult to Compound list. This action would mean that compounded pellets, injections, creams, troches, and gels would effectively be banned.

If this happens, your doctor’s ability to prescribe and your pharmacy’s ability to compound these powerful medicines could be eliminated.

I need compounded hormone replacement for my thyroid and HRT. Conventional pharmaceuticals have too many additives, are not the exact dosage i need, there is no choice in delivery system and they often cause side effects for me. Compounded prescriptions are a choice between my doctor and myself and can address my changing needs with dosage and delivery and address my unique physiology. One size does not fit all! Many of the "hormones" that are usually prescribed are synthetic and are not human-identical. The NASEM is another co-opted organization that does not have the best interest of the individual in mind in this sick-care, Big Pharma run society. Why else besides money would they put out such a flawed report? Often drugs are approved for use even when they cause harm. If the FDA were acting in the best interest of women Provera would never have been approved, they would have made the company pay for the safety study instead of the government that was supposed to prove it was safe, and when it was found to cause heart attacks and strokes, it was not taken off the market!!!!!!! Patients have to go out of their way to get compounded prescriptions and pay out of pocket so we really need them for ourselves and our pets.

I was on an estradiol patch prescribed by my gynecologist and was having hot flashes that were becoming difficult to live with. Was told I should go off patch completely at my age and just let the hot flashes run their course. My body would eventually adjust. I went to a naturopathic doctor and switched to the bio-identical hormones. Within a month or two the hot flashes decreased substantially and I feel better overall.

I began menopause at the early age of 44 and experienced all the typical very disruptive symptoms. I knew I needed help. I wanted a more safe and natural treatment approach. I started reading several books related to BHRT and spent many hours researching the benefits BHRT provided. After reading about some of the unsafe ingredients used in the standard forms of estrogen replacement, I knew I didn't want that. I found a great doctor who supported and prescribed BHRT. My BHRT treatment was specifically formulated to fit my exact needs and not a one size fits all prescription. From the start of my treatment, I started noticing positive changes that offered the relief I'd been hoping for. I don't know what I'll do if this form of treatment is no longer available. Eliminating compounding pharmacies will most certainly cause a lot of turmoil in the lives of people like myself who depend on this type of treatment.

After suffering severe symptoms for several years from a sudden drop in hormones forcing menopause after a car accident I decided to try bi-identical HRT. My mom had used RX artificial hormone replacement for years after a hysterectomy at 35 years of age only later to have a heart attack at 48 and breast cancer, (non-smoker, non-drinker, very active person). I will NEVER use artificial hormones. Bio-identical has given me my life back. Strong bones, healthy tissue, no HOT flashes, or mood swings. I feel great at 59 yers old! I can't imagine life my life without it. My gynecologist says it is serving me well.

My quality of life is proof that Compounded hormones (cBHT) are effective. My muscle tone, libido, hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain and everything else that goes with surgically induced menopause were mostly non existent (made bearable) by cBHT. I am now 54 and look much younger and have the physical stamina of a 30 year old. I tried once in the 15 years that I'm on cBHT to quit - disaster, never tried it again! PLEASE HEAR OUR SUCCESS STORIES. We need our compounded hormone to maintain a normal, healthy lifestyle.

Bio identical hormone compounds have changed the quality of my life for the better.

As a menopausal woman, I have been a mess!
