Earlier this year I decided to explore HRT due to multiple symptoms I was having that were increasing and affecting the quality of life I've always been used to. I lived a full and active life at 57 years but things were changing over the last several years, enough to notice something was going on.
I wasn't looking for a "magic pill" but something that would help me (not mask a problem) and that I could financially sustain long-term. I interviewed multiple places and ended up working with my compounding pharmacist who works "in conjunction" with my doctor, a partnership which was majorly important to me so both were involved in knowing what I was doing. I do the cream application with progesterone pill at night.
I felt this was more suitable for me. Since being on HRT I've noticed many positive changes - regular sleeping, less brain fog, overall physical vitality and mental health. Understanding my hormones are not what they were and seeing test results that showed various levels of hormones really opened my eyes to why I felt that way and now seeing those same results in relation to how I feel now is like night and day! Should compounding HRT be removed it would severely affect women who need it, myself included. I urge the FDA to NOT restrict compounded hormones and in fact, look at all the benefits they provide!

I have been taking compounded hormone replacement therapy medicines for approximately 10 years. My symptoms began in my late 30's with low energy, high anxiety, sleeplessness, low libido, and poor sexual sensitivity, weakness during exercising, and the list goes on! I was fortunate enough to have a friend refer me to a hormone specialist in the area, and a check of my hormone levels revealed low progesterone and DHEA. Immediately upon beginning a topical progesterone and oral DHEA I was able to eliminate all of the above symptoms. I was sleeping, I had normal energy, I no longer had any anxiety, I was strong again during workouts, and my sex quality returned to normal. I cannot iterate enough how HRT has improved my entire quality of life! More recently, in my late 40s, I began having symptoms of night sweats, foggy thinking, low energy, poor immune system with inability to fight upper respiratory infections, sleeplessness, weight gain despite daily exercise and healthy diet, and again the list goes on! In testing my hormone levels, my estradiol/estrogen had dropped significantly, to less than half of what it had been in years' past. Thus, I began a topical estrogen (BIEST), and once again my symptoms improved significantly! My thinking is now clear, my ability to maintain my weight is back, my immune system is stronger, my energy level is higher, my overall mood is happier, I am much stronger during workouts, I have less night sweats and am sleeping better. I would be absolutely devastated, and my quality of life significantly impaired, if I no longer had access to compounded HRTs. I'm honestly not sure I would be able to maintain my career at the current work level performance. Yes, it's that vital to me! Please let me know anything I can do to help the compounding pharmacies fight this battle! 

I had sudden onset in teenage years mirrored that of my mother and my grandson. Initially I was misdiagnosed with mono. With thyroid, my body stabilized. Unfortunately, by moving around the United States I have had to frequently seek out new physicians. Several tried synthetics; each time with poor, life-changing results. Finally one of the doctors filed an adverse reaction to Synthroid on my behalf. I have continued to maintain in good health on Armour Thyroid for over 50 years and cringe at the thought of what withdrawal would do to my health both physically and mentally.

I have been taking Compounding Hormone Replacement for 20 years or more. I believe the fact that I have remained very healthy, is due to the compounding hormones I have taken. Additionally, I have remained fairly active and eat primarily a healthy diet. I am on NO medications. I have had osteopenia of the hips for several years, which has not advanced to osteoporosis. I have very fibrocystic breast but no diagnosis of pre-cancer or cancer. I am petite, weighing 90 pounds, give or take a couple of pounds. Therefore, adding weights and resistance to my strength training has helped me to avoid osteoporosis. I will continue on Compounding Hormones unless my GYN advises otherwise. I have seen a few GYN doctors over the years and each has approved my taking the hormone replacement. I get regular checkups. I am extremely happy with the Compounding Pharmacy I have used. I met the owner years ago and their quality and service have remained outstanding. You can always talk on the phone to a live representative and they are very responsive to any request.

Without having the access to cHRT, I would not be able to get back to my previous functional level as a mother, wife, friend, and practicing medical professional. I have also relied heavily on cHRT in my clinical practice for my patients. It will be a crime against human rights to regain health and access to quality care if cHRT is being taken away.

I am allergic to a lot of the chemicals that are in conventionally made bio-identical hormones. Going to a compounding pharmacy allows me to have my medication made without these chemicals.

After 2 years of horror and pain, I was finally prescribed the correct medicine... Bio-identical compounded hormones. I have my life back!

In my mid fifties, I was shocked when my first bone density scan revealed I had osteopenia. After 2 years of prescription medication and supplements, my density decreased, and my T-score was only 0.1 away from osteoporosis. At that point, my doctor told me this was very serious, and I needed to start taking Bioidentical hormones. He said there are a few risks as there are in anything in life, but the benefit/risk ratio was good. Two years later, my bone density increased even though my doctor’s expectations were to simply maintain my density. Another two years later, I actually received a normal scan! Now, I have a hard time getting a prescription. All medications carry risks. Why am I being denied this wonderful treatment? It makes no logical sense, and government and medical institutions are losing all credibility with the public.

I have been using my compound for 25 years. I would not be able to function without it. The hot flashes are unbearable without the compound. If men went through this there would be no issue and insurance would probably pay for it as any other prescription.

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, (dermatomyositis) these hormones had saved my life! Other harsh medications like Methotrexate and Prednisone were making me feel very sick! Please do not stop compounding bio-identical hormones. They're known for their healing properties and non-side effects!

I had a very small local compounding pharmacy. I received a call one morning from our hospital explaining that a newborn had NO thyroid function. A person will die with no thyroid function or supplementation. I immediately made a liquid thyroid compound for her. She was on the liquid until she could take pills. We saved her life. I have taken every medication for RA, allergies, asthma, and joint pain for the last 30 years with some form of minimal relief. I had tried many alternative options to battle my night sweats and restless sleep during Menopause. With compounded hormone therapy I can finally sleep and function in the daytime.

Compounded bioidentical hormones gave me my life back. Menopause for me resulted in severe hot flashes day and night, horrible insomnia, dryness, and mood swings. I tried several different types of hormone replacement including synthetic hormones and the only thing that worked for me was compounded bioidentical estradiol cream and progesterone capsules. I tried different doses of estradiol with and without testosterone and 8mg/gm estradiol cream was the sweet spot. Any more or any less resulted in symptoms for me. Please for the love of God do not restrict these medications. Everyone is different and a cookie-cutter approach to these hormones will leave people like me without help.
