In my early 20s I began hormonal birth control as directed by my OBGYN and also oral medication for what my dermatologist told me was female-pattern hormonal acne. I tried several forms of birth control to find that I experienced a range of side effects with each one - side effects that were both physically and emotionally painful and confusing. The oral medication masked the cause of the hormonal acne but also came with side effects like dizziness, hair loss, and heart palpitations. Nine yrs ago I started having menopause symptoms. I went to a recommended Dr, who treated me like every other woman walking in the door. He prescribed doses too high for my body. I took what he prescribed and within 2 weeks my clothes were tight, yet i had not gained weight. I became very bloated. I didn’t feel “right”. I went to another Dr covered by insurance. I am taking “crumbs” of what other people take and that is what works for me. For instance, I only need .25 mg of estrogen, 125 mg progesterone and .5 mg testosterone. My Dr is a true miracle! Listen Doctors, please LISTEN to your patients! I have been balanced for the past 4-5 yrs. I am happy, healthy, weigh 115 lbs, A1C is 5.3 - a shining star for a healthy post menopausal woman!!
I do not know why you would ever consider taking away a woman’s choice to take bio-identical hormones. It is my body. It is my money. It is my choice.

When I started menopause, I stopped producing my own hormones and was not only suffering the usual side effects from menopause, but my personality changed. I wasn't who I used to be, and I missed that. I tried getting the combination of hormones through pills, but they were not available that way. Compounding was my only option. I would hate for myself and other women like me to lose access to these compounded hormones that make such a big difference in my daily life.

I take my hormone supplements from College Pharmacy cause they work, not like the statins that are pushed on us from most Drs. I even pay a lot for my Thyroid pills cause I can only get the ones that help from one Co. the statins we’re horrible even my husband was aware of the difference it made w my health. Please quit interfering w the bio identical pills that are made for me and my body.

After many years of suffering were the effects of post menopause my bio-identical hormones have helped me greatly. I refuse to take synthetic hormones because of the many risks they have including blood clots. Blood clots were never found to be a risk with bio-identical hormones. It was just easy to link them all hormonal supplements together.

At 60 I was having panic attacks, extreme fatique, fogginess, depression, anxiety and was put on a number of anti depressants, the last one being Mirtazapene.

I became so sick that eventually I was committed to a lock down two week experience at a hospital. This cost to the State where I was living over 40 thousand dollars for my two week stay.

This could all have been avoided if I was treated by an endocrinologist to get the correct compounding thyroid combination of T3 and T4 at a personalized quantity. The hormones I need must be compounded and individualized for me. We need compounding pharmacies to individualize the needs of everyone instead one pill for all.

I am Estrogen dominant. Five years ago I was having trouble managing my energy, cognitive ability, sleep, and anxiety. I asked my OBGYN for a Progesterone supplement. She prescribed the standard pharmaceutical Prometrium. I had horrible side effects from this poisonous synthetic drug; headaches, drowsiness, nightmares, vision problems, mood changes, depression, and dizziness. I stopped taking Prometrium and read about alternatives to Progesterone, such as creams. I tried creams but did not like that I was not completely in control of the dosage. I read more and found out about compounded bio-identical hormone therapy (cBHT) for Progesterone. It has changed my life. I have been taking 100mg of compounded bio-identical Progesterone for almost four years. It has solved my energy, cognitive, sleep and anxiety issues. In addition it has balanced my high Estrogen, preventing me from cancers and calming my endometriosis. Recently, I developed Mast Cell Activation Syndrome from a bout of severe allergies. I just renewed my prescription for 200mg daily dose. I can not stress how much this cBHT Progestrone has saved my life and I don’t know what I would do without it. I certainly hope the FDA does not take this away from women. It would be a catastrophic tragedy to many women like myself, I’m certain.

I had issues monthly with a multitude of symptoms which eventually led to a full hysterectomy. I tried the regular hormones - estradiol pills and gel and also the progesterone pills. I was miserable before my doctor prescribed custom dosed progesterone for me.

For decades, my doctor had a hard time getting my thyroid levels correct. I had headaches, weight gain, and low energy. Medical doctors are also prone to prescribe synthetic thyroid medication and synthetic progestin, both of which have caused women all kinds of problems. This is likely because pharmaceutical companies benefit more from synthetic prescription medicine than what is found medically superior natural hormones.

No one cares about old women, but unbalanced hormones affects men and women of all ages. Lack of testosterone and heart disease. Low progesterone and PMDD and mental health issues. Synthetic birth control and metabolic syndrome and vascular dementia. According to Medscape, 75% of patients feel better on natural dessicated thyroid than synthetic Synthroid, yet most doctors prescribe Synthroid.

If I were younger, I would become an M.D. or D.O., but I would also travel the world to learn everything I could about hormones. Helping people to balance their hormones so that they work together optimally could reduce all kinds of illness and disease.

Healthcare needs to get back to focusing on the patient rather than profit, including releasing the chokehold insurance companies have on doctors and patients, where they control much of healthcare, such as what medications are prescribed, how long a patient can stay in the hospital, how long an elderly patient can receive physical therapy or stay in a nursing facility.

Please do NOT take away the people's choice of bioidentical hormones and compounded medications. Their health would suffer as a result.
