My doctor, through blood work, determined I had low testosterone. I had no energy, no sex drive, and do desire to do much of anything but sit. My doctor prescribed Androgel, and I used two pumps once a day. My quality of life got much better. I wanted to be active once again, and my blood work showed normal levels of testosterone once again. The cost was about $50 per month on the insurance that I had at the time.
When I went on Medicare, Part C the cost of the Androgel rose to $700 per month, and I could no longer afford it. I switched to compounded testosterone at a cost of about $45 per month. My blood work still shows normal levels of testosterone and I still feel the same as when I was on the Androgel, which is good.
