In my late forties I started to experience sever fatigue (sleeping 10-12 hours per night and tired all day), hair loss, weight gain, extremely dry skin etc. My physical health was deteriorating fast and my mental health was not far behind. It was depressing not being my usual active self, no matter how well I ate or how much I tried to workout, I was getting nowhere. I found a wonderful doctor that took the time to get to the root of my problem. I am hypothyroid, have Hashimotos, an autoimmune disorder and a few heart conditions. After confirming my thyroid wasn't causing these issues, she tested my hormones and they were a mess, I was clearly peri-menopausal. She started me on bioidentical hormone replacement and it changed my life. I am healthier now than I have ever been. I got my energy back and am not going to waste it. Starting on the hormones and feeling so much better gave me the energy to get back to living my life instead of sleeping it away. I do a boot camp workout four days a week and walk three miles 5 -7 days a week and try to fit in yoga as well. As mentioned before, I have a few heart conditions, mitral valve prolapse, a coronary anomaly (only one coronary artery), etc. I just had my annual appointment with my cardiologist and he said my heart has never looked better. The mitral valve leakage is unchanged but the leakage in my bicuspid aortic valve has actually improved and the pressurization in my heart is better. Thanks to the hormones I have my life and health back.
