I began using BHRT in about 2004 for premenopausal symptoms such as night sweats (which caused interrupted sleep and overall drop in quality of life) and bone loss. BHRT began to keep those things on hold and even improving many of those symptoms. In 2009 I discovered I had a BRCA mutation and opted for mastectomy and oophorectomy, rendering me into immediate, full blown menopause including all of the associated symptoms. My doctor and I (against some of the misguided mainstream advice) quickly adjusted my dosing and, once again, raised my quality of life by restoring uninterrupted sleep, improving immune function and bone loss. I've actually started to turn the osteoporosis in the hip into osteopenia and the spine and neck from osteopenia into normal levels. Twice over the past 15 years a doctor insisted I try the "FDA approved" patch which caused my legs to swell and was very difficult to apply and use. I never want to be without my BHRT, especially now with Covid 19, when sleep is imperative to overall health and immunity.
