9 years ago, I was diagnosed with very aggressive prostate cancer. I was told I had 3 to 5 years to live. As I searched thru various treatment modalities, I decided that I didn't want surgery nor radiation. The prognosis offered by the doctors offering these treatments were not very promising. I decided to try alternative treatments. My first experience was to go to Germany and have a trans-urethral hyperthermia treatment. This stopped the cancer for about a year before it returned with a vengeance. My PSA soared to 205. An MRI disclosed that the cancer was still well encapsulated. My personal physician suggested that I try Estradiol as a treatment. I began estradiol therapy with oral medication. After several months, my PSA was under 4! I developed a Deep vein thrombosis and decided to go off the oral estradiol. My PSA shot up again. My physician suggested that I use a topical form of estradiol which I could obtain by prescription from a compounding pharmacy. I accepted his counsel and I had my prescription filled at Mt. Olympus Compounding Pharmacy. I began using the topical estradiol about 3+ years ago. My PSA has dropped to 0.8 and has remained so for entire period of time.
I hope this will remain available for my treatments. Compounding the estradiol is essential for my life. I cannot use the oral estradiol because of the DVTs it causes in my legs.
I am 76 years old and this is the only viable treatment available to me.
I urge the FDA to reconsider ruling against this.
Thank you,
